Superintendent's Blog
I am in Cabinet meetings this week in Portland so there is no blog for today.

You can always read past blog posts here.

Have a great week!
Creating Congregational Cultures of Generosity
The informational flier and registration form are now posted on the the conference website.  We have also included the registration form for the Winter Rendezvous meetings, as they coincide with the CCCG event.  Keep in mind that the pastor and one finance or stewardship person from each church will have their transportation and registration cost covered to attend the CCCG event.  More lay members are encouraged to attend if they are able but their transportation costs would not be covered.  We want to thank the Tuell Center again for their generosity for making this event possible.  The CCCG event will be held at UMC of Chugiak on February 18-19, 2016.
Mission u Event Scheduled for Kenai Peninsula
Every year the United Methodist Women of Alaska put on educational events based on study topics.  This year the studies are Created for Happiness: Understanding Your Life in God which will be led by Susie Smalley and Latin America: People and Faith led by Walt Hays.  The first event will take place on the Kenai Peninsula.  It will be held at North Star United Methodist Church on January 15-16, 2016.  Please contact Bonnie Miller or Jennifer Miller if you have any questions.
Human Relations Day, January 17
United Methodists from across the connection help bridge the gap between church and community by participating in Human Relations Day, January 17. Observed annually on the Sunday before the national observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, Human Relations Day is one of the denomination's six church-wide Special Sundays with offerings.

Gifts on Human Relations Day benefit ministries aimed at helping people reach their God-given potential. These include ministries that help people recover from addictions, help ex-offenders start anew, and help people become disciples while still in prison.

Learn 18 Ways to Promote Human Relations Day; download and share a children's sermon; church bulletin; sermon starters; or, get more details
about this special offering.
Pastor's Other Calling at General Conference
In May of 2016, 864 delegates from around the world will meet to consider legislation that will shape the direction of The United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Graves is the man behind the scenes who is in charge of compiling the approximately 1,000 petitions submitted. This video highlights his ministry.
