Interfaith Weekend of Compassion & Prayer for Unaccompanied Migrant Children
California-Pacific Bishop Minerva Carcaņo and a number of religious leaders in Los Angeles have called for an Interfaith Weekend of Compassion and Prayer for Unaccompanied Migrant Children (July 18-20, 2014) after a delegation of religious leaders visited a naval base in Southern California where such children are currently housed and held a press conference at the historic La Plaza UMC in Downtown Los Angeles last week. You are invited to join in the weekend as well as to invite others to do the same. A central location for all information, including resources for this weekend's worship service (in different religious traditions) as well as a letter writing campaign and organizing calls to Congress, has been designated: www.calpacumc.org/interfaithweekend. The hope is that our witness might transform the national conversation on this matter which has yet to reflect our faith values and our commitment to compassion and caring for children. |
