Bear with us for another short Newsletter.   Tim is trying to get the new bathroom added on to the shop before my next knee surgery on the 8th of September. He will be on nurse duty again for a few weeks and won't have time to do much of anything else.
  I'm
getting stronger every day and am anxious to get the second knee done and over with.
Pam, Ryan and Curtis continue to keep things running smooth in the shop!
Dink Says: "I'm captain of this boat,or is it float?"

WHAT'S NEW
I've been working hard on some New Inlays for you.  Keep those requests coming.  I keep track of them.  If I get enough requests for something I then work on coming up with a nice design.  I like to throw some of my own ideas in there as well.

Note: You can click on any of the pictures and it will bring you to that page of our website.

We currently offer the Celtic Knot Inlay in Bubinga and Maple.   We are now adding this Black Walnut and Maple as a choice!  This is a sample showing you the turned blank but they are currently sold as a Square blank, un-turned.
COMING SOON
As soon as I get past this next surgery I'm going to be going through the bins in the shop.  I know that we have items that have been discontinued that we may have small quantities left, so they are not on our site.   I'm going to make a Special Clearance Page to get these things out of the shop to make room for new items.  It will probably be towards the end of the year which is a great time to take advantage of bargains.  Keep an eye out for that.   Due to the limited availability and to get first come first served you'll probably have to call in to take advantage of those items.

We are also going to start offering the Celtic Knot Inlay Blanks pre-drilled and rounded so watch for that!

Tracey's Two Cents Worth:

We haven't given up on the Great Tech Tips that are provided in our Newsletters but during the summer when folks don't turn quite as much as in the Fall, we don't really hear about too many issues.   That's where Tim gets his Tech Topics.  We'll go by what we are hearing when folks give us a call.   If you run across something you've experienced and would like to share, drop us an email and Tim will do his best to address the topic or share your tips/tricks.

One thing we've found is there is always more than one right/successful way of doing things.  When Tim provides comments/suggestions he shares what he's had successes with or what he has found not to work.  I had a great conversation with a customer today about turning inlays.  While we suggest that you only use a skew and do not sand your blanks that does not mean that is the only way.   We suggest this only because sanding can lead to the bleeding of the colors on the blanks.   These blanks are not cheap and it's a shame to spend all that money and time only to have a sloppy looking blank.
Our customer let us know that he does indeed do some light sanding and has found after he sands if he saturates his blanks with Thin CA right away, he eliminates the bleeding of colors.  That's a great tip and by all means, whatever gets you the results you desire that is awesome.
We're glad to hear when folks experiment and find what works for them because the end result of a beautiful pen is what counts no matter your preferred method of getting there.  We're always happy when folks share with us what they've discovered as they progress with their turning skills.

Thank you for subscribing to our Newsletter once again. We strive to make sure that we are giving you useful information and our goal is not to be a pest and bother you too often. Some folks want us to send out newsletters more often but to tell you the truth, once a month is quite a bit of work already.
We would greatly appreciate it if you decide to stop subscribing to us that you please do us the courtesy of unsubscribing
at the "SafeUnsubscribe" link at the bottom of the Newsletter. If you decide you don't want to receive the Newsletter anymore and just mark it as Spam your email will stay on the list of recipients.
Our report does not show us who you are if you mark us as Spam, only that someone has done so.  That prevents us from removing you from our Newsletter mailing list ourselves. These newsletters are an expense for us to publish and being a small business, every red cent counts. If you send our newsletter to your spam folder it still gets sent out every month and we get charged for it. If you unsubscribe, you will no longer
receive the newsletter and we do not get charged for it being sent to someone who does not want it.
I have experienced for myself those pesky obnoxious businesses that send out hordes of spam to us and when we try to unsubscribe we just get a whole new pile of crap to deal with. When you unsubscribe from us, that's it. It's done and you are not bothered again.
We do not sign anyone up to receive our newsletter, all subscribers sign themselves up. It took a lot more time to subscribe in the first place than it does to unsubscribe from your subscription.
