About the Artists!

Elizabeth Braverman

Elizabeth finds beauty and life in aged, broken, and discarded things. She brings together scraps and fragments in the form of mosaics, quilts, and collage. Her mosaics incorporate bits of glass, mirror and ceramics on varied surfaces. Her motifs evoke feelings of calm, specialness, and joy.

Challah cover by L Gaylord
Lois Gaylord
Lois, an abstract artist working in fiber and mixed media, is a maker of connections. Her work focuses on spirituality and connections and like a multi-strand braid, they interweave, creating the path to her present 'fiber-brained' endeavors. Currently those endeavors include handwoven and hand-dyed tallit, challah covers, and other ceremonial cloths as well as fiber and beaded jewelry.

Wendy Graff
Wendy started creating jewelry by forging fine and sterling silver wire into hand-fused and hand-textured shapes. She wraps fine-gauge wire around some of these elements, embellishes others with beads and semi-precious stones, and applies patina to enhance the hammered surfaces. More recently, Wendy combines vintage buttons and findings to create pieces with a look that is both classic and modern.

Jordana Rene
Jordana is a local artist who has created unique handsculpted ceramic art for over 25 years, including bowls, platters, sushi plates and Judaica. The fluid movement and color in Jordana's artwork exemplifies her influence by nature's elements. Jordana has studied various processes including pit firing and raku, in locations as far reaching as the island of Evia, Greece. She is passionate about sharing her love of ceramics with others, and plans to offer workshops locally in the near future. Having created commissions for clients around the world, Jordana welcomes custom designs, as the process opens the door to new creativity! (www.jordanarene.com)

sooze bloom de Leon grossman and Elisabeth Silver are the other two talented artists participating in the sale.

Lucidarium
Una Festa Ebraica -- Celebrating Life
A Musical Opportunity for All of Us!

Richard Ginnis, who serves on the boards of both Kadima and the Early Music Guild, has arranged with the Early Music Guild to set aside a block of seats for Kadimaniks and friends for the concert, Una Festa Ebraica -- Celebrating Life, performed by the Lucidarium ensemble. Not only we all get to sit together, we can also purchase tickets at the discounted price of $30 (regularly $42). This will be a fun and special evening!

Una Festa Ebraica -- Celebrating Life
In Jewish communities, fully experiencing every stage of life is considered no less important than prayers, respecting the Sabbath, observing holidays, or following dietary and behavioral rules. Reflecting this, a large amount of "party music" survives: songs celebrating life, humorous poems, women's gatherings, transitions, and joyful moments of the liturgical year. With a wide array of instruments, including recorders, pipe and tabor, dulcian, lute, colascione, viola da mano, percussion, hammer dulcimer, and Renaissance guitar, the virtuosi of Lucidarium, Italy's premier ensemble for medieval and Renaissance music keep the party going -- to life, l'Chaim!

The concert is on Saturday, November 16, at 8:00 pm at Town Hall Seattle. For all ages, of course!

Ticket sales will handled by Richard, not by the Early Music Guild. Reserve your tickets by calling -- (206) 547-3914 -- or emailing the Kadima office. Let us know how many tickets you need. Payment for your tickets will be made to Richard Ginnis at a later date. Members, friends, members' friends...we're all invited!

Learn more about the concert and the Early Music Guild at www.earlymusicguild.org.

A very big "thank you" to Richard for dreaming up and arranging this special evening for our enjoyment.
