(on Capitol Hill, one block north of East Aloha St.)

For the potluck, please bring a vegetarian dish to serve 15 people. If your last name begins with:
A-J bring a side dish
K-R bring a main dish
S-Z bring a dessert.
RSVPs requested for children's services and childcare (to help us plan): office@kadima.org or (206) 547-3914. We are collecting food for the JFS Food Bank, so please bring a canned or boxed food item.

Invite your parents and your neighbors, and your parents' neighbors.
It's ALL happening on Sunday, September 22nd at Kadima House ( map). 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Come by for a visit--stay to build your own model sukkah on the Kadima House lawns.
We will NEED your freshly clipped garden GREENS on Sunday, September 22nd for SukkahFest!
A reminder: The GREENS we NEED for the s'chach (roof) are for sukkot (sukkahs) that will range in SIZE from a microwave oven to a large doghouse or a small kid's hut.
Prune, trim, clip...bring a little something for the kids to use on their sukkah roofs, Sunday, September 22nd.
Students will begin the day in their own classrooms, from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
At 11:00 all of our Kadima students, friends, and visitors will meet together at the Kadima community sukkah for snack, brachot, and the opportunity to shake the lulav.
We will then move into mixed-age groups and students and families will work together to build and decorate their own model sukkot.

Jewish Reconstructionist Movement PEARL Calls
(Providing Education and Resources for Leadership)
The Jewish Reconstructionist Movement holds a series of PEARL calls each year. PEARL (Providing Education and Resources for Leadership) is a distance-learning program designed to provide meaningful information and strategies for congregational leaders, members, clergy, educators, and staff. Expert speakers partner with Reconstructionist movement professional staff and lay leaders to help strengthen congregations and chavurot, foster leadership, deepen Jewish spiritual life, and continue tikkun olam/social justice work.
PEARL sessions for 2013 are finished, but you can listen to more than sixty calls from 2008-2012 at www.jewishrecon.org/pearl. You can watch for the 2014 PEARL schedule and register for future calls at the same link.

Over the Rainbow - Washington State LGBTQ Aging & Long-Term Care Summit
By 2030, Washington state demographics will shift toward an aging population with more than one-in-five residents over 65. Among this senior demographic will be a wave of LGBTQ people who will face unique challenges in finding culturally competent long-term care.
Over the Rainbow will convene nationally known and regional experts who understand the needs of this diverse community. This forum will review what can be done to avoid re-closeting individuals as they reach their golden years and how best to embrace and manage associated needs.
