CYHS MINI-THON RAISES $49,012.29 FOR FOUR DIAMONDS Central York High School hosted its fifth annual CYHS Mini-THON Saturday, March 5. More than 200 students attended the event, which included food, games, and visits from Four Diamonds Fund families. The students raised $49,012.29 for the Four Diamonds Fund, which provides financial assistance and other support to families of children battling pediatric cancer and leukemia at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. In total, CYHS Mini-THON has raised $183,429.67 after five years! That money will provide families with financial assistance paying medical bills, fund additional research and aid social workers and music therapists supporting pediatric patients, among other efforts. The CYHS Mini-THON committee will continue raising funds and hosting events throughout the year to benefit this cause. BOARD APPROVES 2016-2017 DISTRICT CALENDAR
The Central York School District Board of School Directors on Monday, February 22, 2016 approved a calendar for the 2016-2017 School Year. The first day of school for students will be Wednesday, August 24, 2016. The last day of school for students will be Thursday, June 1, 2015. To view a copy, please click here. SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET MARCH 14 & 21
The Central York School District Board of School Directors will hold its public Planning Meeting Monday, March, 14, and its public Regular (Action) Meeting Monday, March 21, 2016. Both meetings will begin at 7:15PM and will be held in the Board Room of the Educational Service Center, 775 Marion Road, York. School Board meetings are public and community members are encouraged to attend. CENTRAL YORK HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS BAND FESTIVAL
Central York High School will host the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region V State Band Festival from March 10 through 12, 2016. The festival will showcase 125 of the very best musicians from high schools in Pike, Monroe, Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Schuylkill, Carbon, Lancaster, Lebanon, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Franklin, and York counties. The band will be guest conducted by Prof. Dennis Glocke, director of bands at The Pennsylvania State University.
There will be a concert at 2PM Saturday, March 12, in the High School Auditorium. The concert is open to the public. Tickets are $8 and will be on sale at the concert. The box office will open at 1PM and auditorium doors will open at 1:30PM.

CYMS LEARNERS FINISH STRONG IN MATH COMPETITION
Ten Central York Middle School students recently competed in the 2016 Lincoln Chapter MathCounts Competition at Millersville University. The annual competition tests students math knowledge against competitors from York, Adams, Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Central York Middle School students participated in the competition's Spring Round, Target Round and Team Round. Congratulations to Jun Lee, who placed 16th out of 197 students with a combined score from the Sprint and Target Rounds. Please also congratulate the team of Jemma Kelly, Jun Lee, Ben Hagan and Dillon Linz, who placed 7th out of 26 schools from the four counties. Central York Middle School is also proud to announce that ALL of its learners who competed finished among the top 35% of competitors. Congratulations to our students on a great finish among hundreds of others throughout the region!

Why The Need Central York School District's Student Assistance Program members - including School Guidance Counselors and School Social Workers - as well as faculty, staff and administrators are aware of a growing need for additional mental health support services for learners of ALL ages throughout the District. Frequently, there are barriers to parents/guardians providing students with access to mental health care outside of the school due to work schedules or transportation issues during the school day.

Central York School District will hold a series of workshops for families interested in learning more about some of the commonly used iPad applications (apps) in school and at home.
