CYHS Performing Arts Department To Stage "Mystery of Edwin Drood"

The Central York High School Performing Arts Department will present two performances of the Tony- award winning musical, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, November 20 and 21 at Central York High School, 601 Mundis Mill Road, York.  Both performances begin at 7:30PM and will be held in the High School Auditorium.

Who killed Edwin Drood? It's a question that has stumped audiences for years - now it's your turn to answer one of Broadway's most baffling mysteries. Everyone on stage is a suspect in the murder of young Edwin Drood - and it's up to you to choose the killer!

This is a community show production, and cast, crew and pit members include High School students, District faculty and staff and community members.

Tickets cost $12 (Center Seats), $10 (Side Orchestra Seats) or $8 (Mezzanine Seats).  To purchase tickets, visit www.cyhspad.com and click on the "Ticket" graphic. You may also make reservations by phone by calling (717) 846-6789 ext 1338.

CYSD Collecting Gently Used Music Instruments for Student Musicians In Need

trumpet.jpg Not sure what to do with the violin or flute your child no longer plays? Consider donating your old, gently used musical instruments to Central York School District to benefit student musicians in need.

Central York School District is now collecting used musical instruments that can be refurbished, cleaned and donated to students who want to participate in band or orchestra but have financial barriers to purchasing an instrument of their own. (Please note - the District is not collecting pianos at this time).  Music Department faculty and staff will refurbish, clean and distribute donated instruments to students as needed throughout the year.

If you wish to donate an instrument, please bring it to the Educational Service Center, 775 Marion Road, York, PA, during business hours (7:30AM-4PM).  All donations are tax-deductible.

Please contact Julie Randall Romig, Director of Communications and Marketing, with any questions about this program at (717) 846-6789, ext. 1292 or via email at [email protected]

Middle School Seeks Yearbook Sponsors

The Panther Pride, the Central York Middle School yearbook, has a new opportunity for community members and businesses to sponsor yearbooks for its students.

Currently about 60% of the Middle School population purchases a yearbook.  One of the reasons for such a low number is due to economic reasons.  In order to help those students, The Panther Pride is offering community sponsorships.  Individual community members or families may donate yearbooks; it can be anonymous, or they could be listed as a sponsor if desired.

In addition, there are several levels of sponsorships for businesses; business sponsorships will include advertising space.  Either way, the result is more memories preserved for Middle School students.  If you are interested in sponsoring a yearbook, either as an individual or a business, you can call Mrs. Jennifer Brown at (717) 846-6789 X 1557 or email her at [email protected]

CYHS Interact Club Collecting Socks, Hats & Gloves for York Rescue Mission

Central York High School's student Interact Club held a sock, hat and glove drive throughout October at the school. All donations will be given to the York Rescue Mission for families in need in the colder months.

The Interact Club is extending the drive a week and seeking community donations to help increase what they can give to York Rescue Mission this winter.

If you would like to donate socks, hats and gloves, please drop them off at the High School Main Office, attention Mr. Philip Kyle, before Friday, November 6, 2015.
