"The groups preceding Him as well as those following kept crying out: 'Hosanna to the Son of David!' " Matthew 21:9 We are in "Holy Week." The Lord wants this week to be unlike any other week in our lives - a week of grace, sorrow, repentance, and love. The week begins with the praises of Palm Sunday, changes into the screams of the crucifixion, and ends with the dead silence of the tomb. Throughout the week, we hear the sounds of crying, whipping, hammering, and blaspheming. The sounds of Holy Week are piercing and thunderous. "Jesus cried out in a loud voice, and then gave up His spirit. Suddenly the curtain of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, boulders split, tombs opened" (Mt 27:50- 52). Eventually the roar subsides, and it's our turn to join the choir. What sound will we make? Will we be sound asleep? (Mt 26:43) Or will we betray Jesus with a quiet kiss? Will we cry: "Crucify Him"? (Mt 27:23) Or will we make an act of faith and say: "Clearly this was the Son of God!" (Mt 27:54) The Lord God will give us a well-trained tongue to speak to the crucified Jesus a word that will proclaim His resurrection and His divinity (see Is. 50:4). Dare to hear the sounds of Holy Week. Make the sounds of loving praise and faith-filled commitment. Jesus listens for you. Palm Sunday Meditation "One Bread, One Body" Presentation Ministries

Liturgy of the Light: Thursday, April 16
Parents and Grandparents Invited!
The Liturgy of the Light is a beautiful celebration of the Resurrection that is designed especially for children. The celebration includes readings by the children, plenty of singing, and powerful signs from the Church's Easter Vigil: the paschal candle leading us with its one light through the darkness, the spreading of this light to each of us, and the brightening of the dark room as the light of Jesus spreads.
The Liturgy of the Light is one of the most memorable atrium experiences for the children. Celebrations will be held during the school day. Parents and grandparents who wish to join us for this solemn, joyful celebration are invited to attend as well. Celebration times are:
Middle School students serve as leaders in all celebrations
8:30 3-6St. Gabriel and 9-12 Griffin
9:30 3-6St. Michael and 9-12 Cameron
10:30 3-6St. Raphael and 6-9Lourdes
11:30 6-9Fatima
Children are invited to wear attractive, out-of-uniform clothing
in honor of our Easter celebration. No jeans, t-shirts, or light-up shoes.
Girls should wear pants, not long dresses.
"The children live the proclamation of the death and resurrection especially in the Liturgy of Light, which, through the contrast between darkness and light, involves us dramatically in the fundamental event in the Good Shepherd's life."
Sofia Cavalletti, The Religious Potential of the Child

Robotics Club at GSCM We are seeking parents to serve as coaches/guides for an after-school robotics program at GSCM. The entire program is planned by FIRST LEGO League. There are teams for children ages 6-9 and ages 9-14 - perfect for our school! We are hoping to start this up in the 2015-16 school year. Please see Dan Teller if interested. Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) is a hands-on program for ages 6-9 that is designed to capture children's curiosity and direct it toward discovering how science and technology impact the world around them. This program features a real-world challenge, to be explored through research, teamwork, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, Jr.FLL teams use LEGO building elements to create a model that moves and develop a Show Me Poster to illustrate their journey. The culmination of the hard work is a Jr.FLL Expo. Volunteer reviewers at the Expo, interview the teams to learn about their LEGO Model and Show Me poster. All of the teams are celebrated and leave with an award. The iSPACE Jr.FLL Expo is held in conjunction with the iSPACE District FLL robotics tournament and while participation is not required, teams are encouraged to attend. FIRST LEGO League is for teams of students, ages 9 to 14. Teams of up to 10 students complete in a yearly challenge with three primary parts, "The Project" and "The Game." In August, the challenge is announced. "The Project" puts the annual theme into real-world context and typically has three components: looking at the problem (also called research), proposing an innovative solution and sharing results with others in community. In "The Game," teams use the LEGO MINDSTORMS robot kit to design, build and program an autonomous robot to compete in the challenge in a timed tournament. What FLL offers: - Discovery of the fun in science and technology
- Real-world application of science and math concepts
- Hands-on problem solving
- Programming experience
- Research presentation project
- Adult Coaches and Mentors
- Team activities guided by FLL Core Values
- Self-esteem and confidence
