Backtotop

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Preschool 3- and 4-Day Options

If your child will turn three after September 1, 2013, we are offering a 3- or 4-day option for attending our preschool in 2013-14.   The Montessori Pre-Primary environment is well-suited to a child who has not yet turned three, yet has the interest and maturity to explore a broader classroom environment.  The young child's absorbent mind is also well-suited to this rich, orderly, appealing learning environment.

We are offering limited opportunities for a 3- or 4-day enrollment for younger children.  If interested, please contact Dan Teller:  dteller@gscmontessori.org.

Volunteer Assignments Posted on GSCM Parent Page

A big thank you to all who returned the volunteer interest forms!  The assignments are available on the home page of the GSCM parent page (as well as the volunteer page) or Click here.  The volunteer interest form is available on the parent page if you lost your copy .  Forms can still be turned in to the office or emailed.  This interest assessment is a valuable resource for school staff and parent volunteer coordinators!

In early Fall, we will have sign ups for Walkathon and Fall Carnival (Oct. 10), Grandparents Day (Oct. 25), Book Fair (Oct. 21-25) and more!  We are planning to launch new programs like Girls on the Run and a Lego program (all of which will require parent volunteers).  Thanks for all you do in behalf of the children of GSCM!

Development News

Annual Fund Challenge

In case you have not heard, the PTO has generously offered to match all gifts to the GSCM Annual Fund up to $3400 until the end of the school's fiscal year, which is June 30.  If you have not given to the Annual Fund yet, there is still time.  Your gift might just help us reach the PTO match.  To date, this year's Annual Fund has generated $27,000 to help us bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each child at GSCM.

Thank you to all who have contributed already this year.  We still have a long way to go to meet our goal of 100% participation.   Thus far, 29% of our school community has responded to the Annual Fund appeal.  The fifth grade has the largest amount of participating parents with 47% of those families giving.  As we have said all along, no amount is too small.   We would like to have every family give as they can.  Please consider investing in the future of our school.  For more information, contact our Development Director Jana Widmeyer at jwidmeyer@gscmontessori.org or 271-0205.

Can You Hear It?

Or maybe the question should be, "Did You Hear It?"  The Fine Arts Benefit Concert last Wednesday night was simply beautiful.  Over 125 concert goers gathered here at GSCM to listen to music provided by three CSO performers - David Fishlock, Gabe Pegis and Michael Chertock - along with mezzo-soprano Catherine Fishlock and six young, talented musicians who played and sang a concert to benefit our Fine Arts Center.  To date, this concert raised over $3,000 for our art, music, dance and drama facility.

Thank you to all who attended, contributed, and volunteered to bring this event to fruition.

At this concert, we also unveiled the Joanie Hauck Fund for Fine Arts at GSCM.  Named in honor of the aunt of GSCM students Nick and Caroline Widmeyer, this fund honors the memory of and musical talent of Joanie Hauck a music teacher and community theater performer who died at the age of 40 in 2008.

We congratulate the following people whose names were drawn in the Fine Arts Benefit Concert Raffle:

Berdett Barber, Passes to Taft Museum of Art

Katie Kerry, Cincinnati Art Museum Membership

Wendy Gustafson, Tickets to Tour Betts Historical House

As the school year comes to a close, students will be bringing home the Ask Our Father magnet frames that have been on their lockers.   Please continue to pray the Ask Our Father prayer throughout the summer months and watch your email for updates on the school improvements.

       Ask Our Father

God our Father, please bless our school.

May ourevery word, thought, and action be pleasing in your eyes.

God our Father, help us improve our school buildings.

Bless the donors, workers, and volunteers who make these improvements possible.

God our Father, assist us to obtain the money we need to build a school that helps us to learn, grow, and adore You.

God our Father, guide us on the path of the Good Shepherd.

Help us become beautiful temples of your Holy Spirit.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, Your Son,

Through the intercession of Mary, our Mother, Queen of Angels.

Amen.
