All students are invited to wear non-uniform clothing on May 22nd; however, you must dress in red or blue.  Dress in blue if you are rooting for the middle school; dress in red if you are rooting for the staff.  Students are also encouraged to bring a water bottle to quench their thirst during the game.

Tuesday, May 28:  Final School  Mass with Candle Ceremony

Our final Mass of the year provides an opportunity to express special thanksgiving for the gift of our school and school community.  At the end of Mass, a "Candle Ceremony" enables all of our students to recognize the upcoming departure of our 8th grade class.  Our graduates pass lit candles to their 7th grade peers as a sign of the passing of leadership to next year's oldest students.

Preschool 3- and 4-Day Options

If your child will turn three after September 1, 2013, we are offering a 3- or 4-day option for attending our preschool in 2013-14.   The Montessori Pre-Primary environment is well-suited to a child who has not yet turned three, yet has the interest and maturity to explore a broader classroom environment.  The young child's absorbent mind is also well-suited to this rich, orderly, appealing learning environment.

We are offering limited opportunities for a 3- or 4-day enrollment for younger children.  If interested, please contact Dan Teller:  dteller@gscmontessori.org.

Extended and After Care Position

GSCM is hiring an extended care/after care directress for the 2013-14 school year.   The directress manages the preschool full-day program component from 11:30-3:00 and the school after-care program from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  Both programs are conducted in the white St. Joseph House on our campus.  For more information, please contact Dan Teller (dteller@gscmontessori.org).

We bid a fond and grateful farewell to Melissa Grantadam, who has run the St. Joseph House programs this year.  Melissa, a Montessori-trained teacher, has taken a teaching job at a local Montessori school.  This will give her more direct classroom teaching time with children.  Melissa has been a positive, energetic force in developing our after-care programs this year, including extensive improvements to the prepared environment.  We thank her for her substantial contributions to our school.   The staff, parents, and children will miss Melissa's bright personality!

Office and General News

What a Great Year!

Last week's collection for Inter Parish Ministry's food choice pantry brought in 70 cans / jars / boxes for families needing food assistance in our area.  This brings the total amount contributed by Good Shepherd families this year to 652.

That is an amazing and a very generous amount.  It speaks volumes about your dedication to the mission of giving to those in need and to your commitment that your children learn these same values.

Thank you!  Very much!
