Dear Neighbors,
The NWDA Annual Meeting and Election will be held on Monday, May 20 at 6 pm. There are several open positions on the NWDA Board. Please consider becoming a candidate for the Board and/or President's position. In the coming years, the neighborhood will be wrestling with many important issues, including implementation of the NW Parking Plan, development in the Slabtown/Con-way masterplan area, and the creation of a transportation management association (TMA) to address our traffic and parking problems. Great Neighborhood Events
Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Month - Help Plant Trees in NW Portland - Volunteers needed to help plant trees in NW Portland public spaces. Join members of the Westside Portland Tree Guild and Portland Parks and Recreation staff on one or both of the following days and make a difference in your community:
- Saturday April 13, 10 am at Wallace Park
- Sunday, April 21, 1 pm, at Couch Park

More Arbor Month Activities - NW Neighborhood Heritage Tree Walk - Learn more about neighborhood trees, their importance and their benefits by joining Portland Parks and Recreation staff on a Heritage Tree Walk, Saturday, April 13. The walk will meet at Kells Brewpub, 210 NW 21st at 12:30pm. The tour will begin at 1pm and last approximately two hours. The walk will focus on large and unusual species in the northwest neighborhood and Couch Park. It will include Portland Heritage Trees and other large street and private trees. Walk will occur rain or shine. No reservations required.

Preview Performance of 'Crooked' to Benefit NWNW - 'Crooked' tells the story of how fourteen-year-old Laney and her single mother Elsie move back to her childhood home in Oxford, Mississippi. Laney is an outsider with a twisted back and only her writing to keep her company. When she befriends outcast Maribel, a zealous Christian, Laney's penchant for story-telling soon causes trouble. An amusing series of events sparks a spiritual and sexual journey that infuriates her mother and pushes their relationship to the brink.
