Happy New Year!
|
Dear VCTF supporters,
Someone suggested to me that more pictures of progress on the trail will whip our supportive masses into a frenzy of excitement. You want to see progress? How about a photo montage to start off 2014? I hope these shots make you want to head out to Route 5 and high-five anyone in a hard hat.
Here's the latest on construction:
Exciting news! The four-mile stretch from the Chickahominy River to Wilcox Neck Road will be complete in time for the 2014 Cap2Cap, our May 10 fundraiser that now attracts over 2,500 riders. And in the next 30-60 days, look for construction activity somewhere in western Charles City County to begin.
We will keep you informed as each new piece of the Virginia Capital Trail falls into place. 2014 is going to be full of beautiful pictures!

Cap2Cap Updates
|
So much news, so little space...
- The Williamsburg start is back at Chickahominy Riverfront Park. We'll have everything under one big tent, and it will be a celebration you won't want to miss!
- New routes for the SyCom Century and Sands Anderson 50-mile rides. PDFs will be posted on our website soon. They're just beautiful.
- New merch!
- The Eco Discovery Park FUN Ride is back, but only from the Williamsburg start so that riders can use the Virginia Capital Trail.
- Hardywood Brewery's Capital Trail Pale Ale will be offered again, this time starting in April. We're working on having it available in Williamsburg this year as well.
- Volunteers enjoy the Cap2Cap as much as riders do. Have a look at all the fun jobs still available. If you're a kid in need of community service hours, sign up for a bunch, then relax until May 10!
Check out the 2014 jerseys. Yes, that's George Washington and the colonial capitol on there! So cool.
And to round out your ride-day outfit, the official Cap2Cap socks:
What riders had to say about Cap2Cap 2013:
This was my third Cap2Cap, and it is getting better every year!
The ride was great. We drive down from New Hampshire to participate with family and are planning on returning next year. It was easily worth the drive
We loved this ride SO much that, at the end, we were already talking about coming back next year with more friends!
One of the best experiences I ever had for an organized event. You guys and gals rock. I will be back ... with friends next year!
Sponsorships and expo spots still available.

These Guys Are the Best

A big thanks to Trail Patrol members Dean Dunbar, Ted Moreland, and Jim Gullo for moving a lot of storm damage from the James City County portions of the trail a couple of weeks ago. These guys are so dedicated!
