Lean Project Delivery
Owners can save time and money by spending a more concentrated effort up front to save time and money at the back end by reducing schedule durations and change orders with the use of Target Value Design. BIM technology is only one tool in the toolbox and we need to change how we contract, build and maintain projects. There is no better time than now to align all parties including the Owner, Design Team, Contractors and Subcontractors with a common goal.  Course provided by DPR Construction. 

Lean Design Techniques - participants will learn how to deliver the right deliverable at the right time to minimize wasted effort. 

Appropriate BIM Tools - participants will learn how to use the correct BIM tools for this type of project. 

Target Value Design - participants will learn about the benefits of Target Value Design to avoid time intensive and costly value engineering exercises. 

Holistic Lean Project Delivery - participants will learn the benefits of having the right team members on the project at the right time from pre-construction to project completion.

Join BEC for a very special presentation by Joseph Lstiburek.  Joseph Lstiburek is a principal of Building Science Corporation and an ASHRAE Fellow. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Building Science at the University of Toronto. He has thirty years of experience in design, construction, investigation, and building science research. Through the Department of Energy's Building America program, Dr. Lstiburek has forged partnerships with designers, builders, developers, materials suppliers and equipment manufacturers to build higher performance buildings across the U.S.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex will bring together all programs, faculty and students of the Computer Science Department for the first time in the department's history. The complex comprises two buildings-Dell Computer Science Hall and a wing for research to the south-connected by an atrium. Their design emphasizes modern uses of materials found in UT-Austin's early buildings, which largely adhere to a Spanish Mediterranean vocabulary.
