President's Message

Thank you Cardinal Families! Because of your support all year long, we now have the opportunity to vote on a budget amendment for additional expenditures for the 2012-2013 school year. To see a list of how our PTA families raised $40,00 for our school (excluding Silent Auction), click HERE!
Please remember to take a moment and vote on the proposed PTA budget amendment by visiting our survey monkey vote HERE. This year we are proposing to purchase more iPads and Promethean Boards, to install a surface on the GaGa pit and to donate money to the schools in Oklahoma who lost everything to the tornado. I also wish to take a moment to thank all of the PTA board members who are retiring this year. To see a complete list, click HERE. We are especially sad to say good-bye to our past three "volunteers of the year" who are retiring from the PTA this year: Susan Schools, Kaje Stuckey and Michelle Bone. All three of these incredible women have been on the PTA board five years or more and each of them spent countless hours and energy making Shady Grove an outstanding school. Fundraising
Thank you to everyone who has participated in our fundraising efforts at Shady Grove. We couldn't be the school we are today without your help!
A SUMMER OPPORTUNITY: Papa John's is allowing our friends and family to use our spirit night code (SGES) over the entire summer! Each time our SGES code is used over the summer, Papa Johns will donate 20% of the proceeds back to Shady Grove when we return in the fall. Please don't forget to enter in SGES over the summer as your spirit code so Shady Grove will benefit! As the school year is coming to an end, we want to thank you again for your contributions to our Check Writing Campaign. We look forward to your generous support again next fall. The classroom winners for the most Cardinal Donors received an extra cultural arts program. Congratulations go out as follows: kindergarten - Mrs. Brady, first grade - Mrs. Harrell, second grade - Mrs. DiFilippo, third grade - Mrs. Taylor, for fourth grade - Mrs. Maroney and for fifth grade - Mrs. Molloy.
And, this week, we celebrated with end-of-year ice cream parties for the 2 classroom with 100% participation in the Check Writing Campaign. Congratulations Mrs. Smallwood's Class and Mrs. Daniel's Class.

Box Tops
As the school year comes to an end, collecting Box Tops is heating up! Please use the baggie that will be coming home with your child to continue collecting Box Tops throughout the summer. At the start of the new school year, return the baggie filled with Box Tops to your child's teacher. Remember each Box Top is worth 10 cents for Shady Grove. Thank You for your continued support!

Reflections 2013-2014
Unleash Your Inner Artist. The 2013-2014 Reflection Theme is; Believe, Dream, Inspire and this year the Reflections team is accepting entries all through Summer Vacation. Submit your entry in any of the following categories; Dance Choreography, Film Production, Photography, Musical Composition, Literature, Visual Arts and Special Artist. Entries can be placed in the Reflections Box located inside the main entrance of SGES. Note: After June 14th SGES doors will be open 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday thru Thursday. Closed Fridays. Hospitality
On Monday, June 10th we held an SOL (Sugar Overload) ice cream party for the teachers during their staff meeting. Once again thank you to all of our volunteers who have contributed throughout the year!
