President's Message

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of Magic last Thursday. Our Cardinals collected three large bins of books to be donated to the CMOR book bank. Thank you Sally Raderer, Andrea Wright and Cub Scout Pack 763 for giving our students a chance to give back to our community.

For those families who will be moving to Kaechele Elementary next Fall, Shady Grove will be hosting a Meet and Greet session with the new Kaechele principal, Cindy Patterson on Tuesday, February 26th from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Come join us for lemonade and cookies and the opportunity to learn more about your new school.

Additionally, the new Kaechele PTA is in the process of filing their official paperwork and forming committees to ensure the school gets off to a great start. There will be a KES PTA informational meeting March 4th at 6:30pm at Colonial Trail Elementary School. See the flyer for more details.

Finally, don't forget to submit your nomination for PTA volunteer of the Year by March 7. We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers at Shady Grove and this is an excellent opportunity to let them know we appreciate them.

Fun Run
Grab your running shoes and get warmed up for the 2nd Annual Shady Grove Fun Run!

Wednesday, March 27 from 3:30-5:30pm.

This 1-mile run is open to K-2 and 3-5 students at Shady Grove. All participants will be recognized for completing the run. Pre-registration information will be sent home in early March.

We will need MANY parent volunteers to make this event as safe and fun as in the past. If you can help, please contact Sally Raderer or Andrea Wright.

These students will receive their awards on February 26 at 6:00 PM, Deep Run High School. All of the SGES Entries (except those moving on to the district level) will be displayed at the reception. Kitty and Saanvi will move on to the Richmond District level of competition - Good Luck!!!

Silent Auction

Disney Theme Park Tickets for four, Retired Felicity American Girl Doll, Stay at The Westin Hotel, Kayak Tour on the James, Sailing Trip for Four and many more wonderful items have already been received for the Silent Auction scheduled for May 16th at the End of Year Picnic. If you have any items you would like to donate or a business that would like to help sponsor the event, please contact Mary Sue McClintock or Angela Roupe. We are welcoming donations! Be sure to mark your calendars for this event as we prepare for an evening of fun to support a fabulous cause, a new Book Room for our school!

Cultural Arts

On March 8th the 3rd grade classes will be learning a bit about Africa and it's culture. Young Audiences of Virginia will be presenting Balla Fasseke a show about West African tribes as told by Griots, the ancient story tellers.
