President's Message
By Sue Manley
Thank you Colleen Bohlman and Mary Jordan for planning our Reflections Program again this year. We had over 140 submissions, about 60 more than last year, so they had their work cut out for them categorizing our entries, finding unbiased judges, organizing volunteers to hang the artwork, display the literature, and bring the cookies.  It was a great evening and once again the artistic talent in our school is outstanding.

Also, please come join us tomorrow at dismissal (Nov. 26th @ 2:10) as we take a vote to approve our revised bylaws which have been posted on the website.  In order to ensure we have a quorum, you may see me walking the car rider pick-up line asking for your vote.
Fundraising
Check Writing Campaign:
Thank you for your continued contributions to our Check Writing Campaign. We are so lucky to have such generous parents like you. If you haven't made a donation but would still like to, please click HERE to download our online form. Please fill out the form and send it in to the PTA along with your check.

The classroom winners for our free cultural arts program "The Magic of Reading" were as follows:
Kindergarten - Mrs. Brady
First Grade - Mrs. Harrell
Second Grade - Mrs. DiFilippo
Third Grade -  Mrs. Taylor
Fourth Grade - Mrs. Maroney
Fifth Grade - Mrs. Molloy. Congratulations! We hope your children enjoyed this cultural arts program last week.

December 5, 2012 5:30-8:00 pm
The holidays are nearly here. Please mark your calendar to join us for a spirited evening at our yearly Short Pump Barnes and Noble Book Fair on Wednesday, December 5th!  Bring the whole family to hear bedtime stories from our Shady Grove teachers as well as a performance from Mr. Brady's drum group, Syncopations, while you shop for holiday gifts. Don't forget to remind your kids to wear their pajamas! To download or review our flyer, click HERE. Please bring the the flyer in or to have our Bookfair ID number 10949634 handy.

No time for dinner beforehand? No problem. Barnes and Noble serves pizza and sandwiches for a quick pick-up dinner. Shady Grove will receive 10% back on both food and book purchases that night, as well as 5% back on all digital purchases as long as you mention our Bookfair ID or show your voucher on our flyer when purchasing during our event.

We are still looking for a few volunteers to help with our event; please email Beth Clark today. Thank you.

Papa John's Pizza Nights
Our next Papa John's pizza nights are Tuesday, December 11- Thursday, December 13. Thanks once again for supporting SGES and for getting those receipts in promptly.
Redistricting Update
Please continue to visit the HCPS website for updates on the redistricting process. The school board is currently considering three maps, Map 1, Map 2, and a blended map.  Both Maps 1 and the blended map keep all of our current families at Shady Grove.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, Dec. 6, 6-8 pm at Hermitage High School - there will be School Board Public Meeting.  The public is invited to attend and provide feedback.  Community members are encouraged to sign up to speak in advance as there will be more speakers than time and each speaker will only have three minutes.  Neighborhoods that are organized are asked to identify a neighborhood spokesperson.  The Board will take it to a final vote on Dec. 13.
