The Summer Math Institute helps underperforming middle school students gain the confidence and skill to tackle Algebra 1 in 8th or 9th grade, a key requirement for college access. SVCF has been the major funder of the Summer Math Institute for the past four years, and just recently committed to next summer as well. Altogether, SVCF has contributed $240,000 to this important summer learning program.
SVCF serves as a catalyst and leader for innovative solutions to our region's most challenging problems and has $2.9 billion in assets under management and more than 1,650 philanthropic funds. Not just any organization is accepted as a grantee by SVCF, which stringently vets all potential partners. Program Officer Gina Dalma explains why we qualified: "The RCEF is the strongest advocate for the students of Redwood City, working with the school district to support effective in-school and out-of-school programs. The math summer program has yielded significant results changing students' life trajectories towards college and career. We consider RCEF a true partner in supporting our community's students."
Our partnership with SVCF has been pivotal to our ability to grow, increase our visibility and reputation in the community, and make a difference in the lives of our students in a way we could never do on our own. And the Summer Math Institute clearly has made a difference. More than 93% of the Institute's alumni enroll in Algebra 1 or above by Freshman year, and 87% go on to enroll in Geometry or above in Sophomore year.
We couldn't be prouder that SVCF has joined the many community organizations who trust and value the RCEF as a partner in giving the students of our district a great education. We hope you can join us a Benefit for a Brighter Future to help us give SVCF the recognition and thanks we all owe them.
