February 2014

House in Winter

We are delighted to introduce you to Cultural Katonah, a new alliance of John Jay Homestead, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, and the Katonah Museum of Art.  Every season, the three cultural institutions will present a thematic program at each site.  In this inaugural season, the programs will examine the special attributes of American icons in the American Icon Lecture Series.

On March 11th, John Jay Homestead will host Philip Kunhardt presenting "What Makes a Transformative Life", discussing American icons such as Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King, Jr.  On April 2, Katonah Museum of Art's new Executive Director, Darsie Alexander will speak about what makes an icon in contempoary American art.  Continuing on May 13th, Caramoor will host Richard Kogan, MD, who will present "The Mind and Music of George Gershwin".

Each lecture will be $20 for members of any of the three institutions, $25 for non-members.
