Ian Charles

11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Award winning singer/songwriter/recording artist, Ian Charles completed his tour in support of his 2011 release "August On Saturday". In 2001, Ian won a dMusic Internet Grammy for Best Country Song for "Heaven's Key" from his then 3rd CD, the critically acclaimed, Wishing Street (2000). He is currently working on his upcoming 7th CD/LP entitled, "Songs For The Etc." This latest body of work has been born from almost 20 years of "solo" recording and touring worldwide. His "Lucky 7 Tour", celebrating his upcoming release, began in the summer of 2012 and continues through to Fall 2013. Ian is widely considered by critics as a Renaissance Man of sorts.  A lifelong advocate for the arts and humanities, he balances his time outside of music with environmental, historical preservation, and conservational causes, as well as hunger and safety awareness. He has continued his journey through the publication of his first book of poetry and collected writings, For Parker & Other Trees in 2006. It is now in it's 5th edition. A portion of the proceeds after taxes goes to Feeding America and WHY (World Hunger Year). His travels, life experiences and his poetry, have always inspired his writing and continue to do so. When not on the road, Ian splits his time between Guilford, Connecticut and the village of  Woodstock, NY.

FEATURED VENDORS

 Guyank Brand

Owners: Keane & Kenya Chasten

There is a husband and wife team behind the Guyank Brand products, in fact the company name is a combination of Guyana and Yankee. As their website explains it..."the result of a 13-year chemical reaction gone good between a Guyanese woman and a Yankee man".  Keane, who crafts the Sweet-Hot Sauce blends habaneros and South American "mystery peppers" with green mangoes, brown mustard, carrots and onions. As Kenya says, "mangoes for the sweet, peppers for the heat". It all began in 2003, when the Chastens entered their "signature" sauce in the amateur division of the Scovie Awards, the international spicy food competition. They ended up winning third in the world, convincing them to bottle their sauce commercially...the rest is history!

HEALING HOME FOODS

Owner: Shelley Schulz

Shelley had been a vegetarian for two decades when she found herself embarking on a whole new relationship with food - one that involved her whole family - after her son Jackson was diagnosed with Autism in 2006, and her husband John was diagnosed with cancer. Shelley removed all dairy, gluten, grains, sugar, starches and preservatives from their diets. The positive changes in Jackson's mood and health were immediate and profound, and John's recovery progressed smoothly and vigorously. Since then, Shelley has been hooked on the quest for knowledge about how food contributes to health.

Shelley implemented the principles of a raw/vegan lifestyle across her family's diet, and took to the kitchen to innovate and create foods that were not only healthy but tasty - even to her daughter Katie, who has no specific dietary needs or restrictions.

The endeavor soon became a passion, and in 2011, Shelley founded Healing Home Foods. For nearly two years, she catered to her ever-expanding customer base from her home kitchen, but by the end of 2012, demand was growing so fast that the business needed a dedicated facility. She secured a license as a commercial producer, and renovated a building in her home town of Pound Ridge, NY to create a dedicated gluten-free facility that opened in early-2013. By June, the business was growing so well that Shelley sought out an additional facility in Pound Ridge - which will open in September/October 2013 as both a production facility and a retail store.
