WHAT'S AT MARKET
We had a fantastic opening day thanks to all of you! Stick with us...we have an amazing lineup this season of new vendors, old favorites with new offerings, fine music and lots to explore and discover at the Homestead...here's a highlight of what's at the market this week... Elina of Big Bang Coffee has been working on bringing espresso to the market for two seasons now...come this Saturday for the unveiling of her first Espresso! In addition to Hot & Iced Coffee they will be serving Iced Espresso, Latte, and Americano. Featured Vendor and newcomer Jnana Organics will have a variety of gluten-free, vegan offerings including Kale Salad dressed in tahini, Chia Pudding with granola, Red Quinoa Cups with granola & maple syrup and freshly made Almond milks and Cashew milks. They are taking orders now for fresh pressed juices. Choose from Green Juice, Carrot Beet Juice (so refreshing!) and Lemon Gingerade Juice drink. Call now to place your order and they will have it ready at the market for pickup or you can email to jnanaorganics@gmail.com. To order by phone call (917) 592-8360 or call the shop (914) 864-2727. Another Featured Vendor and market favorite, Johnny Gelato will be dishing out more than just smiles this week...his yummy gelato and sorbets are a highlight for many who visit the market. You may not know that his daughter, Meagan, is the creator of these delicious gelato flavors, which this week will include Triple Chocolate, Samoas, as in Girl Scout cookies...and Blueberry Lemon Sorbet. We welcome back Amba Farms with their offerings of salad greens, chard, kale, radishes, edible flowers, green seeds of coriander, strawberries, young carrots and flowers! Table of Condiments is debuting this week with their savory mixed nuts made with habanero hot sauce. They are the perfect blend of sweetness, spice & heat. The savory nuts pair perfectly with an ice cold beer, blue cheese or even tossed in a salad for unexpected flavor and heat. Too hot for you? Try their candied pecans...these pair beautifully with brie, blue cheese and/or a salad. They have a delicate sweetness and irresistible crunch. Wonderful news! Our favorite Hudson Valley winery, Whitecliff Vineyard, just won a Gold and a Silver medal at last weekend's San Francisco International Wine Competition for its Traminette and Mountain Laurel White, respectively. Both wines will be available at this weekend's market, along with several other wonderful wines to accompany your summer evenings. Upcoming this week, Ladle of Love is showcasing their Asian Rice Noodle Salad. It's dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian. They will be selling it at a special price of $7 per pint. Rich Brownies has promised to bring more of their Sweet & Salty, Peanut Butter and Oreo Brownies, but if you're in the mood to try something new...to spice things up...Betsy will have Cinnamon Chipotle Brownies...you have got to try it! Come early to Tiny Hearts Farm if you want some Sugar Snap Peas this week. For mixed bouquets, they will feature Calendula, Anemone and don't miss the first cut of Snapdragons. You may have noticed our cheese selection has grown this season with the addition of Plum Plums Cheese. This week Audrey is highlighting some wonderful farmstead cheeses that go great with fresh summer salads. From Beltrane Farm in Lebanon, CT comes a Fresh Classic Chevre- creamy, herbal flavor with a lovely light acidity on the finish...made from pasteurized goat's milk from a herd of Oberhasli & La Mancha goats. Talking cow...from Green Mountain Blue Cheese of Vermont there's Gore-Dawn-Zola....made in the Gorgonzola style; tangy, sharp and crumbly. This cheese is cured over a three-week period attracting naturally occurring flora to form a rind. It has a bitter chocolate aroma. Great over a light green salad with a sweet dressing...hope you picked up a bottle of Wild Virginia's Fig Balsamic Vinaigrette last week, otherwise you'll have to wait for their return on 7/13! The revolving vendors this week are: Healing Home Foods, Honey Locust Farm House, Table of Condiments and Whitecliff Vineyards...don't miss them!
