Super Troll You Should Know!
The Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce honors Mary Grundahl the "Super Troll You Should Know" - March's Volunteer of the Month. The Super Troll You Should Know is awarded to a person who has had a positive impact on our community, making it a better place to live. "I'm excited to present this award to Mary, as she is a little firecracker! Enthusiasm is a trait that many believe ensures success. Enthusiasm inspires and catches fire. It is one of the essential traits of great volunteers and Mary is always enthusiastic! Her spirit and enthusiasm is contagious to me and her peers - it sure makes our meetings more interesting!" said Melissa Theisen, MHACC Executive Director. Mary has been volunteering for the Chamber and Mount Horeb community for many years and currently serves on the Chamber Board of Directors. Among her volunteer work is service to the Member Services and Marketing committees. When speaking to volunteering Mary says, " I can speak for myself and others when I say that it seems like everyone is always on the go and busy. We all run from day to day trying to catch up, convincing ourselves that we will someday get ahead. Then, when the topic of volunteering gets brought up, the internal dialog starts, 'we don't have time to commit to volunteering - how will we get everything done? - something will have to give.' Well I am not going to lie to you, volunteering for me means I do not get everything done; some things do have to give and I still don't have any time! But, at the end of the day, when all is said and done, most of those other things don't really matter. The satisfied feeling I get through volunteering and connecting with people in my community replaces my internal dialog with an external one with new friends, neighbors, family and friends." Mary also states, "Can you make a difference to others through volunteering? Yes, but I think you will like the difference it makes in you the best!" Mary is the Director of Sales for JG Development, Blue Mounds.
