"Soul Stroll" Wellness Walk

The African American Health Coalition (AAHC) is hosting the 11th Annual "Soul Stroll" Wellness Walk in Wilshire Park on August 17th. Everyone in the community is invited to come together in celebration and acknowledgment of African Americans' fortitude and capacity to overcome barriers and to raise awareness about health disparities within the African American community.

Beginning at 8:30 AM, people will gather at the western side Wilshire Park, enjoy morning coffee and an assortment of healthy food, hear inspirational remarks from the Grand Marshall and other Portland dignitaries, stretch the muscles and begin.

Young and old celebrate together by walking in teams or as individuals for miles throughout the Wilshire-Beaumont neighborhood. The event features both short (2.4 K) and long (5 K) routes along Alameda, Skidmore, Klickitat, and Fremont streets.   Community walk teams are most welcome and can be arranged through an on-line portal.

To register, visit: or call (503) 413-1850 if you have any questions.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month

We all need immunizations to help protect us from serious diseases, including children. To help keep our local community and schools safe, Moda Health is proudly participating in National Immunization Awareness Month.

Moda Health covers routine immunizations for members of all ages when administered by a professional provider. Covered immunizations are those that are recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for children and adults.

It's important to know which immunizations you need and when to get them. Talk to your doctor or nurse to find out which immunizations you need.

For additional support, we offer tools and information you need to get well sooner and live well longer. Check out the Treatment Cost Navigator to get an estimate of immunization costs before your next office visit or procedure. Log into your myModa account for more information.
