Greetings!

It's a new year and winter is here -- just the "ripe" time in the Jewish calendar to celebrate the fruit of the trees.

Tu B'Shevat (aka "Jewish Earth Day") starts this year on Wednesday evening, January 15. The holiday presents an ideal opportunity to highlight the value of shemirat ha'adamah (protecting the earth). Teach your children to be green, enjoy a seven species recipe, and read a holiday-related PJ Library book to nurture a sustainable future for our planet.

We will be celebrating Tu B'Shevat on Sunday, January 12 when we take over the Discovery Studio at the Providence Children's Musuem. We will be there from 11:00-2:00 working with the museum staff to learn and explore all things trees through various hands-on activities, crafts, and stories. Museum entry fees do apply.

Winter Class Sessions begin in January. If you haven't had a chance to see all that is being offered, check out the guide. Registration is open now. For information about the guide, PJ Library, or Shalom Family, please feel free to contact me.

Happy 2014!

Best,
