MAY IS FIELD TRIP SEASON 

 

...and that means busy mornings at the Children's Museum as groups of students from all around our region come to explore, discover, learn and play.  

 

10:00 am to 1:00 pm = BUSY!

 

1:00 to 5:00 pm = BETTER!

  

Weekends = Sundays quieter than Saturdays 

 
 

Registration is open for Camp Curiosity Summer Day Camps at the Children's Museum! Click the image above for the brochure listing 3-morning and 5-morning camps for 4-7 year olds and full day sessions for 7-12 year olds.  Single day registration is also available.
Museum Members get a discount! Register online, by phone, at the Museum or by mail.

REGISTER EARLY & WIN! Register before May 15 for entry into a drawing for a prize package to include a 1-year Children's Museum membership + other prizes!

 
May 24 will be the last day for TINKERTOY: Build Your Imagination.

Fishing for Fun

The Friends of the Upper Mississippi organization has donated a Fishing for Fun backpack, which can be checked out from the Children's Museum for up to two weeks.

The backpack contains a telescopic fishing pole and tackle plus LOTS of information and resources to make your outing extra-fun and extra-educational.

The backpack also contains a contents list to make it easy to keep track of and return all included items.

Ask at the Museum admissions desk.

Mayo's Best Baby Shower in Town

Expectant or new parent? Learn about local resources to help you and your little ones AND explore the Children's Museum for FREE, from 12 to 3 pm!

No registration required.
Regular Sunday admission of $6 per person resumes 3-5 pm.

Museum Meet & Mingle

Friday, June 26, 6-8:00 pm

 

New in town? Single parent? Want to connect with other parents of young children?  

 

With or without kids, you can meet new friends while you explore the Children's Museum after-hours. Mt. LeKid climbing wall will be open (must be age 4+ and wear full coverage footwear).  

 

$2/person Museum members or $8/person non-members. Pre-registration requested.

NOTE:
The Mt. LeKid climbing wall is open on Saturdays and Sundays only through the school year. The wall will be open Tuesdays through Sundays mid-June to August. Age 4+ and full coverage shoes (no flip-flops) required.  

 

Weekly Preschool Programs:

 

These weekly preschool programs are FREE with admission/ membership and do not require pre-registration; however, class size is limited so check in early/on-time and be prepared that some sessions may be full. Parental involvement is expected.

  

Tuesdays at 10:30 am - Sparkling STEMs: Science-related activities

Thursdays at 10:30 am - Little Learners: Story, craft and snack    

 

No Wednesday Peek Into the Past or Friday Wee Move in May or summer.  

No Sparkling STEMS in summer.

Sunday, May 10: HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Free admission for all moms today! Everyone else gets $1 off regular admission this and every Sunday.

May 24 is the last day to learn and play in the TINKERTOY: Build Your Imagination traveling exhibit. We'll be taking it down and sending it on to another Museum.
NOTE:  Some areas of the Museum, especially 2nd floor will be limited the last week of May and possibly the first week of June.

 

Saturday, June 6: Meet children's author/illustrator Craig Kunce, 11-11:30. FREE with museum admission.

 

Friday, June 12: Night (out) at the Museum, 5:30-8:00 pm. Supervised Museum play and light snack for ages 3-12 without parent. Pre-registration and pre-payment required. $11/member child; $16/non-Member child.  

 

Sunday, June 14: Mayo's Best Baby Shower in Town.
Free admission from noon to 3 pm + lots of great resources for expecting and new parents. No registration required. Save-on-Sunday admission of $6 per person will resume from 3-5 pm.

 

June 15-17: Camp Curiosity Wee Seeds half-day camp for ages 4-7, 8:30-11:30 am. Pre-registration and pre-payment required. $85/Member child or $95/Non-member child. Single day registration $25/Member child or $35/Non-member child. Includes special activities, t-shirt, snack and supervised access to all exhibits.  

 

Friday, June 19: Amazing Race Freaky Friday camp for ages 7-12, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Pre-registration and pre-payment required. $45/Member child or $55/Non-member child. Includes special activities, t-shirt, snack and supervised access to all exhibits.

 

Sunday, June 21: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Free admission for all dads! $1 off regular admission for everyone else.

 

June 22-26: Camp Curiosity Life in the Rainforest half-day camp for ages 4-7, 8:30-11:30 am. Pre-registration and pre-payment required. $85/Member child or $95/Non-member child. Single day registration $25/Member child or $35/Non-member child. Includes special activities, t-shirt, snack and supervised access to all exhibits.

Access to the family-friendly "Attack of the Bloodsuckers! traveling exhibit will be included with regular Museum admission and membership.

Donors of $100+ by May 15 will be listed on a banner to be proudly displayed in the Museum.

  

"Attack of the Bloodsuckers!" was developed by the Environmental Exhibit Collaborative, with funding by Jane's Trust, the Cabot Family Trust, and IMLS. The exhibition tour is managed by Sciencenter of Ithaca, NY.
