A message from Donna Grier, Vice President, Underwriting

 

Our underwriting and marketing efforts over the last several months are showing positive results. Customer retention is high and new business writings have been strong. While FFVA Mutual writes a wide variety of risk classifications, over the last few months we have seen repeated successes across our eight-state market in the following classes:

Christine Novak

Operations Support Mgr

Christine Novak has extensive insurance experience in the areas of premium audit, billing and policy services administration. She is responsible for the company's underwriting operations support team.
  
Getting to know Christine:
1. How did you decide that an insurance career was for you? After a period of time I realized what was originally a job had become my career.
2. What do you enjoy most about working in the insurance industry? I enjoy the interaction with people and the variety in my day-to-day work.
3. What career advice would you give to someone new to the insurance industry? Find a strong mentor with experience. Some things cannot be taught in a class.
4. From your experience, what makes FFVA Mutual different from other carriers? The number of long-term employees is amazing and confirms the dedication and loyalty to the company.
5. What career would you want if you were not working in the insurance industry? Optometrist.
6. What are your interests outside of the office? I love to read and visit new places.

Joani Dann

Underwriter

Joani Dann joins FFVA Mutual as an Underwriter for our Alabama and Mississippi territories with 30 years of experience in personal & commercial lines underwriting, rating and audits, and claims.
  
Getting to know Joani:
1. How did you decide that an insurance career was for you? A friend told me about a job opening in an insurance claims department and the rest is history.
2. What do you enjoy most about being an underwriter? I enjoy building relationships with people. My agents and customers know they can count on me to do whatever I can to help them.
3. Do you have a mantra for success? Never give up the dream, always embrace challenges, and one can never learn too much.
4. From your experience, what makes FFVA Mutual different from other carriers? FFVA is one of the top insurance carriers with a great reputation in regard to how they handle business and treat their employees.
5. What career would you want if you were not working in the insurance industry? I would be a full-time volunteer helping to improve the lives of other people and animals.
6. What are your interests outside of the office? I volunteer for charities, run, powerwalk, and enjoy spending time on my sailboat, Capricious.
