So far, we've raised $2,655 of our $5,000 goal in the GlobalGiving March Open Challenge! Please help us reach $5,000 before March 31, so we can teach Rabaini and her neighbors how to rebuild safe, earthquake-resistant homes.

Watch the following video to learn more about Rabaini's story and why she and her children need your help.

Today only (March 19),
GlobalGiving will match all donations of $25 or more (up to $1,000 per person) with an additional 15% until matching funds run out. Take advantage of this great opportunity to increase your impact!
  • $100 hosts a community meeting to explain why earthquake-safe building is important
  • $150 covers a week of construction guidance from a trained builder to help a family rebuild their home safely
  • $300 trains the local government officials how to inspect for and enforce compliance with safe building standards
  • $500 trains one builder to construct safe, earthquake-resistant homes

Your donation of $100, $300, or even $500 will change lives.

(This project is very personal to our team in Indonesia. Christine, our program manager, challenged our other senior staff to a competition to help raise funds. She is committed to helping her neighbors.)

More details about our project in Cekal Village:

The skills we teach are permanent and the building materials are available locally. Our recommended modifications to commonly used house designs are small and low-cost. The changes are widely adopted because they are simple, affordable and use familiar materials. This acceptance leads to permanent change in local construction practice.

Cekal Village residents will have the knowledge and materials they need to build earthquake-safe homes, now and in the future.
