Dear Friend,
An earthquake struck the Aceh province of Indonesia in July. Dozens were killed and thousands injured by collapsing buildings. More than 53,000 people are without a safe place to live.
Homes are being rebuilt, or patched up, using the same unsafe techniques that contributed to their collapse. Most construction professionals in the region, however, do not have the knowledge or skills to build back safe, earthquake-resistant houses - leading to a cycle of collapse and rebuilding, and avoidable deaths and economic losses.
We want every family in Aceh to live in a safe home.
We need your help.
With your support, we will train local construction teams to teach homeowners and builders how to construct safe, permanent, earthquake-resistant houses.
$50 - Gives the Build Change booklet "How to Build Strong and Sturdy Houses," and posters about safe construction techniques, to five families.
$250 - Keeps two families safe from earthquakes permanently, by providing engineering and construction supervision as they rebuild.
$500 - Trains and hires a local Acehnese construction professional to teach homeowners and builders to build safe, earthquake-resistant houses. Employing local people stimulates the region's recovery and creates lasting change in local construction practice.
Please make a generous gift to Build Change today to help families in Aceh rebuild safe, permanent homes.
Please donate now.
Thank you!
P.S. Spread the word! Forward this message to your friends, family, and co-workers so they can help make a big difference to Acehnese families, too!
