The technique of Content Marketing has emerged out of the transition from traditional media to the digital marketing world. More than just creating content on the internet to promote a project or service, businesses are discovering there is value in the content itself. There are tremendous marketing opportunities available in creating and distributing relevant, valuable content pertaining to your market.  This content can go out via a website, in email marketing, online articles and documents, downloadable white papers, posts and articles on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest and video channels like YouTube, as well as games, pictures, music, sounds and software.  Marketing valuable content incorporates the two key ingredients to successful social marketing - authenticity and service. Content marketing build relationships, create rich social media presences, enhances search engine results, builds brand recognition and drives traffic and leads.

The Next NaperLaunch/SCORE Business Roundtable Will Be Held May 21

This will be the 8th in a popular monthly series of open discussions among small business owners and entrepreneurs. The Roundtable consists of 90 minutes sharing ideas, challenging each other, and networking, all for a common goal - to succeed in your own business!

Round Tables are conducted as an open discussion.

We will initiate the dialogue by asking if you are in business now or are seeking to start a business. That's it!

The SCORE Volunteers who will participate are all experienced marketing and business pros.

If all goes well, you may wish to arrange for a counseling session with a SCORE Mentor. That scheduling can be arranged before you depart.

The Roundtable is held at Naperville Public Library, beginning promptly @ 8am

Enter by using the 200 W Jackson Ave door. The library is closed for general business until 9AM.

Our May Mentor Profile - Pierpaolo Mangeruga

May, 2015 SCORE Profile - Pierpaolo Mangeruga

Pierpaolo "Paul" Mangeruga has brought passion, knowledge and a zest for client engagement in his ten months as a SCORE Fox Valley mentor. After learning a bit of his interesting life and professional history, you will appreciate why Paul has become such an impactful colleague in a relatively brief period.

Born in Rome, Italy, Paul was raised by parents Nicola and Vittoria with older brother Gianfranco. Summers in his youth at Lavinio on the "Roman Riviera" gave Paul an appreciation for biking and exploring every corner of that beautiful seaside resort. Following elementary and high school education at the same school in Rome, Paul attended University of Rome - La Sapienza for studies in Mechanical Engineering. Paul then earned and was awarded a Master's Degree in Engineering after presenting his thesis on laser Doppler anemometry and gained membership in the prestigious Ordine Degli Ingegneri, a certification highly regarded in European engineering circles.

Immediately after concluding his formal education, Paul remained at University of Rome as an assistant to his Engineering professor, Paolo Mele. In the early 1980's, Paul attended a meeting of the Italian Federation of Alumni in the north of Italy where he met his future wife Juliana, an attendee of the conference from her native Lebanon. When Beirut was under a bombing siege, Paul invited her to stay in Italy for her safety, which eventually led to their marriage. Shortly thereafter, Paul took his first relocation and key position with Olivetti in Turin, and then with Fiat Chrysler assumed increased corporate responsibilities in Poland and Brazil. Extensive business travel followed, including frequent trips to China, Russia, USA and all of continental Europe. Paul's professional competencies elevated him to many important corporate posts, including Chief Information Officer (CIO) of both Fiat Hitachi and Case New Holland. A few years ago, Paul joined Maneat USA, an international information technology and engineering solutions company, as its USA Regional Director. Despite this full plate, Paul is also the principal of Interactive Consulting Solutions, which provides Project Management and Mergers & Acquisitions advice to its clients.

So what does a highly energized entrepreneur like Paul do to relax and maintain his "A game"? Reading, walking and creative time in the kitchen provide pleasurable diversions, as well as the companionship of partner Karla. Paul's two sons, Antonio and Martina, are both in school in their native Italy, while Paul maintains his Italian citizenship and secondary residence in Strambino, Italy. Paul learned of SCORE through the website VolunteerMatch.com and joined our organization in late June, 2014. In addition to mentoring at the Elmhurst, Bloomingdale and Lisle locations, Paul is a valued contributor to SCORE's professional workshop programs, and in April successfully launched a Business Roundtable in Darien, which has already spawned a "Virtual Business Roundtable" with participants joining from multiple regions of the US.

"Helping people understand what to do, and how to better do it" was Paul's response when asked what aspect of SCORE he found most appealing. With his breadth of experience and consultative skills, Paul does that every day for a growing number of appreciative SCORE clients.

Mr. Mangeruga can be reached at pierpaolo.mangeruga@scorevolunteer.org or (708) 638-4663.

Client Kudo!

SCORE's Rita Riordan has been working closely with Jim King of Wheaton Website Services for several years. Jim recently expressed his appreciation and support of SCORE by urging his own customers to consider engaging a SCORE mentor for independent advice and counsel, as evidenced below.
Thanks for the kind words, Jim!

A business mentor can be a invaluable resource.

Are you an expert in every area of your business?

I don't know anyone who is. We all have areas where we need to rely on someone more experienced and knowledgeable. If that is not someone within your business, you need to look elsewhere. You might have a friend or family member, but that comes with baggage and expectations. A mentor is often a better choice, but where do you find one?

SCORE, www.score.org, is all about mentoring small businesses. As their website says, "SCORE volunteers provide the specific advice and resources you need through customized, 1-on-1 or team mentoring".

Their mentors have expertise in all areas of business and can counsel you in person through local chapters or via email. I don't recommend many companies, but I do recommend SCORE and have for many, many years.

Best regards,
Jim King
