April ROTA Church Calendar The Grace Church Calendar appears on the homepage of Grace's website. You can access it by clicking on the icon labeled "Church Calendar" found in the left-hand column. This calendar is the same calendar staff use, so it is always most up-to-date. If you are curious about what dates may or may not be available for a function, please feel free to check this calendar first. United Thank Offering Ingathering set for Sunday, May 12 Boxes and envelopes are ready at the back of the nave
United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through United Thank Offering, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. United Thank Offering is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and in invited Provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world. Last year in the Milwaukee Diocese, The Next Generation, received a grant for $4015 for purchase of 14 computers for their Inner-city after-school program.
Last fall the Ingathering at Grace Church collected $734.26 for the UTO. Every penny will be given out in grants across this country and the world.
- Gratefully, Joyce Pollock, Parish UTO Coordinator

40 years of Madison Urban Ministry
Madison Urban Ministry (MUM) has been a major contributor to the well-being of the people of Madison. It has served as an incubator for services needed to meet the needs of our most vulnerable people which it then spun off to become several independent non-profits. Transitional Housing (now known as Porchlight ) was one such ministry which included the Grace drop-in shelter. They were also the impetus for Family Enhancement - an agency helping young low income moms to complete their education while learning about child development and well-being.
They are currently working with the children of incarcerated adults and there is so much more to celebrate. A dinner is planned at the Concourse on Saturday May 18. Tickets are $75 ($50 of each ticket is tax-deductible). A Grace table may be in the works. Please contact Linda Newman for additional information and to make your RSVP, (608) 238-6356. RSVPs are due by Monday, May 13. Women's Mini-Week 2013, August 15th to 18th Thursday Dinner thru Sunday Brunch Camp Lakotah, on Little Hills Lake, Wautoma, WI An annual retreat for women of all faiths and their friends, offering a time to relax, to learn, to discover, to bond, to have fun, to laugh, to be renewed-and to eat meals you don't have to plan and cook first! Each woman can set her own length of stay and her own agenda. You can be involved in planned activities as much or as little as you choose, or bring your own resources for an individual retreat-whatever is right for you to be refreshed. Activities include beach and waterfront options, massages, nature & labyrinth walks, campfires, crafts, glee club & music, talent show, yoga & other fitness experiences, book discussions, Taize service & other Christian worship opportunities, delicious & healthy meals (with adjustments made for those with dietary restrictions), and much, much, more! Grace Groups

Want to read some good books and discuss them with others at Grace?
Get on the Grace Church Book Group e-mail list to learn about us. Contact Frank Cook at 608-238-6974 or jfcook@facstaff.wisc.edu. Next meeting is Thursday, May 9th, potluck at 6 PM, discussion at 7 PM of Clyde Edgerton's Walking Across Egypt. It's a short, easy, and funny read about a elderly Southern woman who combines her church life with her good cooking to help strays (dog and boy) and to witness to her beliefs. She may be slowing down a bit but her faith in good works and good food make her a blessing to know.
AND/OR Want to read the Good Book and
discuss the weekly lectionary readings with others at Grace? Meets Sunday mornings at 9 AM in Grace's Library (5th floor) to discuss the Bible readings for that Sunday, including the history and geography of the area, definitions of confusing words, terminology, and theological issues. The Interpreter's Bible, The Illustrated Bible Dictionary, and other commentaries are the basis for the presentation. Contact Frank to receive an e-mail of the readings on the Friday before and (if you wish) comments on the following Monday. Not a homily, just a chance to meditate on the readings we hear in church. Duck, Duck, Duck, MALLARD! Take me out to the ball game! Grace Church has 20 tickets to a Madison Mallard's game versus the Green Bay Bullfrogs on June 15th, at 6pm. Tickets are 16 dollars, which includes your seat plus a "tailgate" before the game = one hour of unlimited ball park food and soda! Contact Lauren at togracechurchformation@gmail.com if you would like to purchase a ticket and join us for this fellowship opportunity.

Don Giovanni Friday, April 26, 8pm Sunday, April 28, 2:30pm
Overture Hall
Catch Grace members Tom Stone and Lynn Morgan (and others?) in this classic! Murder, seduction, eternal damnation, and other secrets of the night. According to his (not-so-little) black book, Don Giovanni has seduced 1,003 women in Spain alone. Over the course of a scandalously sinful day, his misadventures come back to literally haunt him, as Mozart's brilliant score whirls people in and out of the Don's midst. If you've never seen one of the greatest operas ever written, come discover the glory of a piece that has been thrilling audiences (and shocking a few of them) for over 225 years. If you've seen it less than 1,003 times, come see it brought to life afresh, with a young, vibrant cast.
Tickets begin at $18. Tickets online or through the ticket office at 608.258.4141.

Sign-up deadline for Make Music Madison is May 15 A new event, Make Music Madison, will be a one-day citywide, free, outdoor musical experience held on the Summer Solstice, Friday, June 21, 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Music lovers around the city will generate a continuous wall of music to be enjoyed by everyone. Anywhere can be a venue as long as it is outside, including sidewalks, parks, restaurant patios, etc. (If it rains, concerts planned for sidewalks may take place inside a building lobby or store front. In this case, they ask that a door or window be opened so that the music is audible from the street.)
Organizers have custom-designed "match-making" software to sign up to be an artist or a venue.
Would some music-minded person reading this like to make Grace a venue? Visit www.makemusicmadison.org for info, FAQ, and sign-up.
