Anti-racism Training for Facilitators - The Diversity Empowerment Training Team of the Diocese of Olympia is partnering with the Kaleidoscope Institute and Eric Law to train facilitators lay or ordained to, in turn, develop and equip other leaders in the diocese to combat racism. A Holy Waste of Time Young Adult Retreat. Young Adults (18-35) will be gathering August 7-9 at St. Andrew's House on the Hood Canal. Enjoy time with others or by yourself kayaking and swimming the beautiful waters of the canal, hiking under the rain forest canopy, reading in the lodge, and sunning on the deck. Trinity, Seattle presents "Uncle Gunjiro's Girlfriend", Wednesday, August 12, 7:30pm; an engrossing family story of Gunjiro Aoki, son of a legendary samurai, and Helen Gladys Emery, the daughter of the Archdeacon of San Francisco's Grace Cathedral--a Japanese man and an American woman married at Trinity on March 27, 1909, when interracial marriage was illegal in many parts of the country, and highly irregular in Seattle. "Uncle Gunjiro's Girlfriend" tells the tale of their epic love and its impact on their descendents three generations later.[More]

Safeguarding God's Children/People Trainings
This training is of general interest to all, but is required of anyone who works with children and youth in the church, whether as teachers, helpers or nursery - all staff, clergy & vestry as well. A training session for the Safeguarding God's Children program; five year certification on completion of the class.
