Winter Tree Quilt

Fabric, thread, digital print on fabric, longarm machine quilted, 87x92"

I love trees and I'm grateful for all of the lovely trees and plants we have on this planet. I've been fascinated with trees for a long time; since childhood. I especially love the form and shape of trees. In the center of this quilt I've included a digital image printed on fabric of my 1993 work, "Pregnant Winter Tree." For the border I used a batik that I bought from Fabmo, a non profit organization that facilitates the recycling of designer fabric.  The Indigo piece across the bottom is a piece I dyed in the early 90"s. This quilt looks wonderful on the wall, and can also be used on a bed. I like the slightly "off" shape of it!

Visualization

 VISUALIZATION

I'm grateful for everything I have and I know that I have it as a result of the way I use my mind to think constructively. I'm very appreciative of the other people in my life who inspire me to think creatively; to  visualize and picture what I want to have happen. When Larry and I decided to find a house to own, we talked about what kind of house we wanted and we formed a picture in our minds about what it would look like; we visualized the house as we wanted it.  We even drew a picture of it with a floor plan. Now we are happily living in it! I'm grateful to all of you who are reading this, because you are allowing me to connect with you and to know more and more each day that I am never alone.

Collecting Treasures: Celebrating 35 Years

Bridget and Therese and the Bridget Quilt
I made this quilt in 1968. I'm pleased to announce that it is now part of the permanent collection of the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles and is included in the 35th anniversary celebration exhibition. The quilt's design is based on a photo of my daughter, Bridget when she was a baby. It was wonderful to have her present at the opening reception and to have a picture of the two of us to show you!
Thanks to Nancy and Clayton Bavor for the image!
