Golf &Sporting Clays Invitational Drives Impact!
On September 30th, we hosted one of our biggest and most successful annual special events - the Energenic 18th Annual Golf & Sporting Clays Invitational. The event took place at Red Wing Sporting Clays Range in Port Republic and Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway, and raised an impressive $88,800 which will support UWGPSNJ's work to improve education, income, and health as well as basic needs supports for our residents.
It's an event that continues to draws sporting enthusiasts from across the region who share one common goal: to drive lasting measurable, impact that none of us can achieve alone. And since inception this event has raised a remarkable $1.35 million to support United Way's Impact Fund.
In addition, each year we celebrate an individual or group that serves as an outstanding example of what it means to LIVE UNITED, advocating for our entire community - not just for one organization, or for one person or place, but for each and every person who lives, works and raises their families in Southern New Jersey. It's a way of life, and one that is fully embraced by this year's honorees: Herman and Dot Saatkamp. The Saatkamps are tireless community advocates who give back to and improve the community through a number of organizations and leadership roles. One example is Dot's dedication and leadership as a charter member of the United Way Women's Leadership Initiative in Atlantic County, which funds and focuses on the local programs of United Way's Success By 6. We were honored to have the opportunity to recognize their contributions to Southern New Jersey and celebrate how their efforts have spurred others into action to benefit our region.
To all those who helped to make this year's event a success, we applaud you! Your support is a true commitment to a better tomorrow for many of our neighbors in need - together, we drive measurable, lasting impact that none of us can achieve alone.
Warm regards,
John Emge

IMPACT FUND Investment Process Now Underway | |
For the first time as a regional organization, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) is kicking off its new three-year funding cycle for nonprofit agencies in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey working to improve our communities through the Impact
Fund.
- IMPACT Fund supports key strategy areas:
- Education - better prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn, learn to read at grade level by third grade, and stay on track to graduate high school college- and career-ready
- Income - help more working individuals and families improve their financial literacy and stability
- Health - build healthier communities for all children, adults and families
- Basic Needs - support our most vulnerable neighbors when they need a hand up the most
- Advocacy - educate both policy makers and community members on important issues to promote long-term solutions that improve education, income and health, as well as those that ensure basic human needs are met
In each strategy area, UWGPSNJ seeks agency partners whose programs and/or services target specific individuals or groups within its service footprint and fulfill defined, required (and preferred) program components.
