Long Term Recovery Group
UPDATE
| |
On Sunday, June 30, 2013, more than 75 representatives and volunteers from Jaws Youth Playbook (JYP), the Atlantic County Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG), United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) in Atlantic County, Americorps and the Ventnor community worked to rebuild the Titus Field Recreation Complex located in Ventnor, NJ that was damaged last fall during Superstorm Sandy.
JYP, the foundation of former Philadelphia Eagle Ron Jaworski, donated $30,000 to support the rebuilding effort, which will repair the refreshment stand, field house, batting cages, shed, fences and scoreboard. In addition, the funds will be used to purchase new fieldhouse equipment including refrigerators and ranges, as well as replace the athletic equipment that was lost in the storm's aftermath.
An unveiling celebration hosted by Ron Jaworski along with representatives from the LTRG, UWGPSNJ, Ventnor officials and others is planned for later this month.
Atlantic County Long-Term Recovery Group was assembled to provide coordinated management of the long-term recovery process; increase efficiencies by avoiding duplication of efforts and provide additional long-term assistance for residents with limited resources. The group is comprised of more than 30 local, regional and national non-profit, government and faith-based organizations and businesses including American Red Cross, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, Mental Health Association, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Habitat for Humanity, Family Service Association and others who are experienced in all aspects of disaster relief and recovery and health and human service. A full listing of participating agencies can be found online at facebook.com/VOAD.
