Each year, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day.
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 8, organizations across the country are promoting awareness about important children's mental health matters. The effort seeks to raise awareness about the importance of children's mental health and how positive mental health is essential to a child's healthy development from birth.
The Center for Health Care Services is also hosting a Stand Up and Soar for Children's Mental Health event tomorrow at the United Way of San Antonio, 700 S. Alamo St. at 11:00 am. The event includes an awareness walk to the Bexar County Courthouse. Participants are encouraged to wear green shoes in support of stomping out stigma! We have videos, parenting tips, fact sheets, conversation starters, and other helpful links.
Another way to get involved is to join our One in Five Minds campaign. Learn all about it here!
