One in five young people in the U.S. experiences a mental, emotional or behavioral disorder. In Bexar County alone there are an estimated 80,000 children affected by mental health disorders. Too few are treated, often due to the stigma associated with having a mental health disorder.
Please plan to join us at 9:30 am, on Thursday, March 28, in the auditorium of Valero's corporate headquarters as we introduce One in Five Minds and begin "Raising advocates for children's mental health."
One in Five Minds is an advocacy campaign, sponsored by Clarity Child Guidance Center, and created to overcome the stigma of children's mental health treatment.
Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff will deliver the keynote address at the March 28 kick-off event. Other advocates who have pledged their support include State Representative Leticia Van de Putte, U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro and two-time World Champion Boxer Jesse James Leija.
A panel of mental health professionals will be on hand to discuss how children's mental health issues affect different segments of the community.
Attendance is free. Please RSVP here and plan to join us!
