A special message from Sue's husband Al Cath
The loss of what I often call the "last third of Sue's life" is incredibly tragic, but her always-upbeat, incredibly courageous philosophy about life enabled her to face death with unwavering fortitude, conviction, and bravery. Throughout her two and a half year battle, she was never angry and entirely unafraid to die. The brutality of her disease makes a strong case for basking in the relief that her agonizing journey is over. If we can at least to some extent adopt this perspective, we can feel less anguish, and are in a better position to celebrate the unique, complete, beautiful person that Sue was. I invite everyone to come help me and my family do this at her funeral on Thursday.

From Jennifer Lyons
As a lover of dance, you just never think the others that love the same way will ever leave you. West Coast Swing would not be the way it is in New England without the endless creativity and teaching Sue brought to this area. Mainly connected to Longfellow Club in Wayland, so many dancers got "turned on" to WCS and lots of other genres of dance because of Sue's infectious enthusiasm.
I am so grateful to have shared many conversations with Sue, coaching with her on a swing team, and having late night laughs leading and following with each other. It was always a thrill and surprise when she would just pop in at a dance in Providence and bring a bag of fun with her to our parties. I hold strongly onto some of the things that Sue used to share with me that always began with "You know what Jenn..." that would always help me get to know her and help figure out which direction I was going. I found Sue to be beyond honest, kind, and so solid with who she was and what was important in life. She was someone I knew I could talk in confidence and get sound advice. Sue is a friend I wish I had spent more time with.
Sue you are loved and you have sprinkled yourself around in ways you probably don't even realize. Thank you for being "you".
