A THANKSGIVING PRAYER

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.

We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.

For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.

So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

HOPE & HOME
for a family in need

Bree and kids

Over a year ago, Bree and her children moved from Chicago to Holland to escape a difficult situation and start fresh. Shortly after moving here, plans to stay with a relative fell through, and Bree ended up at several different shelters, then living out of her car. Without stable housing or employment, she felt stuck. She wanted to provide and care for her children, but she needed help getting back on her feet!

Then Bree found Good Sam's Community Housing Partnership program. During her interview for the CHP program, Bree impressed the staff with her drive and ambition to find employment that would provide a decent wage and long-term stability for herself and her children.

Bree is so appreciative of the help and support that comes along with the CHP program. Along with housing, program participants work with a caseworker, who helps connect them with other services such as budgeting help, food pantries, job searching, and a church connection. Bree shared, "Through the program, I was connected with a church group - they helped me move and found furniture for us. My daughter even has a purple room, which is her favorite color!"

Once she was settled in a three bedroom unit in Holland, Bree continued her employment search, and found a great position through a temporary agency. She is optimistic that this temporary position will lead to full-time permanent employment. She has also found reliable child care and transportation.

As a result of her dedication to making a better life for her family, and a little help from Good Sam's CHP program, Bree is building a foundation for long-term financial stability and a bright future for her family!
