Farmers' Market Demo Day, Oct. 4
J oin the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), Carney Hospital,
and SMAMS at the
2:30pm, Oct. 4 for an event that will be both delicious and economical!
We'll demonstrate how food purchased with SNAP and Boston Bounty Bucks at the farmers' market can be used to prepare affordable, tasty, and healthy meals.
Cedar Grove Gardens will be doing container gardening demonstrations, Red's Best Seafood will show us how to fillet a whole fish, and Chris Douglass's team will teach us how to use the bounty of produce from the farmers' market (and give out some free food samples)!
John Polanowicz, Secretary of Health & Human Services, Stacey Monahan, Commissioner of DTA, and other officials will join residents and local businesses (and you!) at the event.

Women on Main Kickoff Event
Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Boston Main Streets will host a Women on Main networking event on Monday, September 30th from 6:00-8:00pm. The kickoff will be held at Stella restaurant, located at 1525 Washington Street in Boston. Women on Main is an initiative recently launched by Mayor Menino to help businesswomen expand their business network and to help the City of Boston better communicate with them.
Enjoy refreshments, and network with other female business owners across Boston. Some of your fellow women business owners from St. Mark's Area Main Street will be there!

this Friday!
If you missed Makin' Jamaican's delicious food last week, never fear! Kevin and his team will be back this Friday from 3-7pm on Dot Ave (outside Flat Black Coffee in the Carruth building).

Dot 2 Dot Café Open Mic: Friday, Sept 27
This month's Open Mic at the Dot 2 Dot Cafe will be hosted by the Boston School of Music Arts. Everyone is welcome to perform. Attendees are asked to support Dot 2 Dot by purchasing something from the dinner menu (minimum spend $10 for adults, $7 children up to 12 years). Doors open from 6pm.
Neighborhood Cleanup: Saturday, Sept. 28
Come help clean up Peabody Square this Saturday 9/28 with Friends of Peabody Square. We'll start at 8am at the clock, where Dot Ave meets Ashmont St. Bring work gloves if you have them. Other materials provided.
Dorchester Bike Counts: through October 7
Bike riders are being counted for the annual Boston Bike census this week through Oct. 7th (weekdays only). But Dorchester was not included! Dot Bike is organizing a count at three locations in Dorchester so that our part of the city is not left out.
If you can help count between 7-9 am, 11-1pm, or 4-6 pm at Codman Sq., Glover's Corner, or Bowdown/Geneva, please contact dotbike@bostonbiker.org.
