Makin' Jamaican comes to Ashmont this Friday, 3-7pm!
Anyone out there like food trucks? We just got official word from the City's Office of Food Initiatives that Makin' Jamaican will be on Dot Ave (outside Flat Black Coffee in the Carruth building) from 3-7pm every Friday! Kevin, the chef and truck owner/operator, is excited to come to Dorchester to share his stew chicken, oxtail, Jamaican beef, and more! He has been operating across from the Malden MBTA stop and is expanding his operation to Dudley (Friday lunch) and Ashmont (Friday dinner) this week. Hope to see lots of folks on Friday - let's give Kevin a warm welcome to the neighborhood! You can keep up with Makin' Jamaican on Facebook and Twitter @MakinJamaican.

Farmers' Market Event: Mark Your Calendars for October 4!
J oin the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and SMAMS at the Ashmont/Peabody Square Farmers' Market at 2:30pm on October 4 for an event that will be both delicious and economical!
We'll demonstrate how food purchased with SNAP and Boston Bounty Bucks at the farmers' market can be used to prepare affordable, tasty, and healthy meals.
Cedar Grove Gardens will be doing container gardening demonstrations, Red's Best Seafood will show us how to fillet a whole fish, and Chris Douglass's team will teach us how to use the bounty of produce from the farmers' market (and give out some free food samples)!
John Polanowicz, Secretary of Health & Human Services, Stacey Monahan, Commissioner of DTA, and other officials will join residents and local businesses (and you!) at the event.
