"City Hall To Go" Truck at Ashmont Station

The City of Boston's "City Hall to Go" truck made its first appearance at Ashmont Station/Flat Black Coffee Wednesday, July 24.  The response was very enthusiastic, and the truck plans to return on the fourth Wednesday of each month, 4-7 p.m. (So mark your calendar for August 28!)

The truck features a wide range of City services, without the need for a trip downtown.  For the "menu," please click here.

Thanks to truck staffers Liz Bates and Hanania Joseph, and to Elizabeth Rios, Chris English, and Justin Holmes in the Mayor's Office for setup.

Boston's Best Neighbor Award - Call for Nominations

Boston's best Neighbor Logo
Vargas & Vargas Insurance, of Dorchester and Stoughton, announces the Fifth Annual Boston's Best Neighbor Award.

The purpose of the award, according to Vargas & Vargas president Carlos Vargas, "is to honor an individual who has demonstrated special care, concern and volunteer hours to make their neighborhood a safer, more pleasant and more friendly community for all residents.  This individual may have made contributions to other neighborhoods, projects or citywide concerns."

The 2013 winning nominee will receive $2,000 and a plaque, and their story will be published in the local media.  The individual who nominates the winner will receive a $500 check and $500 donated to the charity of their choice.  One runner-up will also receive $500.

Nominations must reach the office of Vargas & Vargas Insurance's Dorchester location by 5 PM, August 15, 2013.

This is a Citywide award.  Nominees, and those who nominate, must be current Boston residents. The nomination must include an essay of 100 words or more.  This is not a voting competition, but an award to the most deserving. For more complete nomination guidelines and information, please click here.
