Summer Newsletter 2014

A Message From Your
ACHE of Massachusetts President

Dear Fellow ACHE of Massachusetts Members,

Before summer is gone, I hope you have all had a chance to enjoy the gorgeous weather and a few carefree days prior to the busy season of autumn. It has been a summer of great activity for ACHE of MA, beginning in June, when we honored Professor Stuart Altman, Chairman of the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission, as Senior Healthcare Executive of the year; and Ali Raja, MD, Vice Chair for Network Development, Department of Emergency Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital as the Early Career Healthcare Executive of the year at the Annual Meeting of the Massachusetts Hospital Association in Chatham.
Jack Bailey, FACHE, ACHE of MA Regent &
Ali Raja, MD

ACHE night at the Red Sox was a big hit again this year, and we thank Tay Bozkurt and the Early Careerist Network for creating a terrific evening gathering for members and soon to be members. It wasn't meant to be for the Sox that night, but a great networking event! The ECN also held a Social Media and Mobile Health Panel series. Participants were able to earn Face-to-Face credits.

While a few of us have been vacationing, our Program Committee has been hard at work finalizing the plans for our Fall Conference to be held on October 9th.  I hope you will take the opportunity to join us for this great educational program, as our speakers and panel guests will certainly challenge our thinking as we continue our transformative work in care delivery under reform.

Our Breakfast with Healthcare Champions Series continues to draw very good crowds. Our most recent event with Howard Grant, MD, President and CEO of Lahey Health was a huge success with a record turnout. Dr. Grant spoke on what is next in integrated healthcare; making high quality care more personal, innovative and accessible.

We have been making great progress on our goals of increasing sponsorship levels thanks to the Sponsorship Committee, led by Mike Turilli. Our sponsors are critical in the underwriting support for all programming in our chapter and we are very grateful for their generous support. All of our sponsors are listed in this newsletter and I hope you take a moment to introduce yourselves at our next sponsor supported event.

Our finances remain stable and are being strengthened by our program offerings and sponsorships. While many associations across the country are struggling with relevance and financial viability, ACHE of MA is strong and growing due to the educational programming, interest levels and participation of healthcare leaders throughout Massachusetts.

Thank you for your continued support, and I hope to see you all at our October 9th educational event!

Warmest regards,

Trish Hannon, RN, MBA, FACHE

For many organizations, this translates into providing the right amount of care in the right setting and managing that care across the continuum. What tactics do successful organizations employ? Enhance Panel Discussions
One of the goals set by the Early Careerist Network Advisory Council was promoting member advancement to Fellow status. This year we aimed to fulfill that by providing additional opportunities for members to earn Face-to-Face credits. Fifty-nine members took advantage of the past two education events in April and July to earn 1.5 Face-to-Face Credit Hours.

Forty-eight colleagues attended our annual ACHE of MA night at Fenway Park.
