40 corners like this one, all to yourself.
No one behind to push you.
No one in front of you to chase.
This road is all yours for the next four miles. And it's all uphill. At the top, ease off the throttle and show the summit crew your grin.
You've got plenty of room to relax. Find a nice place to park. Unzip your gear, grab something to drink and admire the view with the only other riders on the planet who know exactly how you're feeling right now.
You're in good company up here. A rider on a 450X. And another on a vintage Slash 5. Some guy driving what looks like his mom's Volvo, but clearly isn't.
That guy on the GS? It's his first time too.
You've all got this experience in common, so don't be shy. We're all friends on the mountain.
Even those guys on the sidecar, who everyone agrees are a special kind of crazy... When all of the cars and bikes are up and the road is clear, pull on your helmet and zip your gear. It's time again to focus.
As you descend, review your run in reverse.
Think about which corners you could have ridden better, and adjustments you might make for a smoother attack on the next run. And the next.
Because you get to do this all day.
For two days.
On your own private road
on the side of a beautiful mountain
in Vermont.
If you need to take a rest, we'll understand.
