CHURCH CAMPOUT
AUG. 28 - 30 ALTAMONT CAMPSITE
Alpine Scenic Loop American Fork Canyon
|
|
T
The Altamont site is located on the scenic Alpine loop on highway 92, connecting American Fork canyon and Provo canyon. This is likely the best group camping site in Utah, with a close view of Mount Timpanogos, excellent hiking trails, and a river running through the camp. The site has many tent sites and plenty of RV and car parking. The large picnic table area is covered. Be sure to stay in the right lanes where I-15 splits due to road construction or you will not be able to get off at Exit 92. Go east on Timpanogos, through Highland & Alpine approx. 14.2 mi. Site entrance is on your left. Join us for Sabbath if you are not camping! Friday evening dinner, Sabbath lunch and dinner, and Sunday morning breakfast will be eaten as a group. Sabbath breakfast and Sunday lunch are on your own. We will be eating Friday evening dinner at 6:30 PM. Beans will be provided for haystacks for Friday evening dinner, spaghetti noodles will be provided for Sabbath lunch, hotdogs and buns will be provided for Sabbath evening dinner, Smore's will be provided for Saturday night campfire fun, and pancakes will be provided for Sunday morning breakfast. All other ingredients, sides, and toppings are needed for the above-mentioned meals.
Please contact Michelle to let her know what you can bring.
Hiking is planned for Sabbath afternoon. For those who would like to join us in touring the Timpanogos Cave Sunday after the campout, you may call 877-444-6777 for tickets. Plan on 3-4 hours for your hike up, the cave tour, and your hike down. The cave tour fees are $8 for ages 16 and up, $6 for ages 6-15, $4 for ages 3-5, and free for ages 0-2 (although they still require a ticket). Each tour is limited to 16 people, but tours are generally offered every 15 minutes (ours is scheduled for noon). Tickets are limited, so buy them in advance. Don't forget to bring: tent, sleeping gear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottles, Sabbath breakfast, Sunday lunch, snacks, hiking shoes, and a sense of adventure.

YOUR PRAYERS
| |
OUR CONDOLENCES to and request for your prayers for former Wasatch Hills members, Mike Keymer, and his daughter, Kristy Varley. Mike's wife & Kristy's mother, Gail Keymer, passed away due to sepsis at 11:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24. She was 67. Mike and Gail had been (and still are) evacuated from their home in Montana due to a wildfire and had gone to stay with their son in Coeur d'Alene, ID. It was there that Gail was hospitalized and taken off life support by her choice. Mike, Gail, and Kristy were members at Wasatch Hills and West Jordan for many years before Mike & Gail recently retired to Montana. Gail is survived by her husband, Mike, her daughter, Kristy (Phil), 2 sons, and 4 grandchildren. You may send your condolences to Kristy Varley who will send them on to her dad. Her address is 2791 S. Humanity Cove, Magna, UT 84044

OPERATION SHOEBOX

Our annual Operation Christmas Child Shoebox collection drive will take place in a just a few more months. This is a great time of year to start getting things to put in your box. The school sales are perfect for picking up crayons, pencils, notebooks, erasers, small pencil sharpeners and other school supplies at really inexpensive prices. So remember Operation Christmas Child while you are out there doing any back to school shopping.
