His Blood is Red
I knew it was going to happen sooner or later and I wasn't looking forward to it. What would I do? How would I react? Was I going to be prepared to calmly handle the situation or would I panic?
I didn't need to wonder anymore; that moment had come. I looked down at the little boy in my arms. Blood was flowing from a cut on his forehead and had begun to pool in his left eye and ear. I was quickly carrying him down the hall leaving a trail of blood behind. There was blood on my shirt and pants, and Joshua had red speckles on almost every part of his clothing and face.
Finally, I was able to sit down and the lady at the service desk opened up the first aid kit and handed me the necessary medical supplies to stop the bleeding and clean Joshua up.
I will never know exactly what happened, but I do know that somewhere in Home Depot there is a metal shelf that attacked my little boy. The bleeding was soon under control and the smile returned to Joshua's two-year-old face. As his smile returned, my heart began to slow down as I realized that everything was going to be okay. I breathed a sigh of relief.
I now looked up to see seven Home Depot employees gathered around to help if they could. In my desire to take care of my son, I had been oblivious to those around me. I had been completely focused on taking care of my little one. The instant I realized he had been hurt I jumped into action, "What can I do to help my son?"
Blood is not pleasant to look at, but it is a precious commodity. We serve a God who cares about us so much that He was willing to give up His blood so that He could save us.
As I wiped the blood off my hands I couldn't help but think of the blood that was shed on my behalf.
Ephesians 2:13 "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ."
