                     MYTH BUSTED

There is a television show that has intrigued me when I have watched it. It is called Myth Busters. The premise of the show is simple. The hosts take a common myth and test it out to see if it is true or false.

One episode that particularly interested me dealt with a cell phone myth. You may have heard about this myth. It states that if you use your cell phone at a gas station, a spark from the phone may cause an explosion.

I have seen signs at gas stations telling you to turn off your cell phones at the pump.

The Myth Busters went to great lengths to try and make this happen. With all of their training and high tech gadgetry, they were unable to cause an explosion using gas fumes and a cell phone.

Their conclusion was that this myth was busted. Incidentally, it is very unusual to find cell phone warnings at gas stations any more.

We encounter myths on a regular basis in our lives. In fact, we encounter spiritual myths almost daily.

Satan tries to fill our heads with myths about God.

Myth #1 - God doesn't really love you. If God loved you, He wouldn't allow bad things to happen to you.

Myth #2 - Your sins are too bad for God to forgive. You should straighten your life out before you pray to God for forgiveness.

Myth #3 - True freedom comes apart from God.

God sent his own Myth Busters (we know them as prophets) to debunk the devil's lies. And, as the ultimate show of His love for us, He sent His Son Jesus to die for us. That one event, Jesus' death on the cross, debunks all of Satan's lies.

Romans 8:38 "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
