Excitement

The sun's warm rays had warmed the temperature enough to make one think it was almost spring.  I stood at the base of the steps leading to our front door and watched as Joshua ran down the sidewalk with both arms raised in the air, yelling at the top of his lungs.  This wasn't a mad or angry yell. Oh no.  This was an "I'm thrilled to be alive and outside" yell.

The picture of this little boy running down the sidewalk reminded me of the old Best Buy advertisement where the man walks through the doors of the store and upon seeing everything that the store had to offer, lost all self control and ran screaming through the store with his arms flailing in excitement.

We all get excited about something and we have our own ways of showing that excitement.  What gets you excited?  Is it being outdoors?  Is it a showroom of electronics?  Is it the feel of a new pair of shoes?  Is it a new car?

How about God?  Does God excite you?  Do you get excited when you think about salvation?  When you imagine spending eternity with your Savior does that make you want to rejoice?

If I hadn't stopped him, Joshua might still be running down the sidewalk with his arms waving and shouting at the top of his lungs.

I imagine that he'll be doing the same thing someday as he celebrates his entrance through the gates of Heaven.  What a day of rejoicing that will be!

I Chronicles 16:31 "Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth."
