The Good, The Bad, The Heavenly

KNOCK!!! KNOCK!!! KNOCK!!! BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!! This is the POLICE! "Open up!" BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!! "Open the door!" shouted a deep male voice.

I turned over in bed and wondered what was happening. There sure is a lot of racket out in the hallway. What are the police doing in the hotel?

After a few minutes of banging and shouting, it sounded like someone finally answered the door and the shouting escalated. After a few minutes everything was quite again. What happened at 3:00 am that morning I'll never know, but it couldn't have been good.

The next morning, as we were checking out of the hotel, a young girl came to the front desk dressed in a short skirt and boots up to her knees. Her dress suggested her line of work.

As I was driving, mulling over in my mind a world that requires the police to make 3:00 am visits and young girls who become prostitutes, I started feeling depressed.

Looking out the car window, I watched as snow flakes began to fall. The flakes grew larger and larger and began falling faster and faster, and the world around me became transformed. The beauty of God's creation caught my attention. The Bible tells us that all of nature shows us God's glory.

    Isaiah 44:23

"Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel."

The results of sin in this world cloud our minds from the glory of God. God uses nature to clear away the fog of sin so that we can see heavenly realities.

As we recognize and accept the salvation God has given us we desire to have all God has to offer us. Satan still tries to show us all the evil this world has so he can discourage our spirits. Look to God's word, look to nature, and don't be fooled by Satan. Remember, he's a created being marked for destruction and is already a defeated foe. God has great things in store for us.
