GLOW TRACT DISTRIBUTION
AUG. 30 - Jordan Park Intn'l Peace Gardens 2-4 p.m.
|
As Christians living in a world starving for answers about the 'big picture', how can we keep the knowledge, grace and security of our loving Savior all to ourselves? GLOW tracts are a great way to introduce ideas and spark interest in what the Bible really says "to give us hope and a future." Contact Michelle Chaya if you are willing to give an hour of your time at 2 or 3 p.m. Michelle

Pam's Pause
|
I love that the very first chapter of the Bible tells of Jesus' first gift to the world: Light (Genesis 1:3); that the very last chapter of the Bible says of our forever home---the New Jerusalem---"There shall be no night there: they need no lamp nor light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light..." (Revelation 22:5): and that smack dab in the center... continue
Be sure to check out the updates and order information for vegetarian food in Pam's Pause!

NEEDED: PATHFINDER LEADERS
| Looking for a few dedicated people: Our Wasatch Pathfinder Club has really taken off in the last two years. We have a big group of young people enthusiastically participating. But some of our consistent, dedicated helpers have moved away. Our club is in desperate need of some more willing people to assist with our monthly meetings. The commitment isn't huge---just one Sabbath afternoon a month and maybe a weekend camping trip or hike once or twice a year. But in order for the program to work, we need some people that will actually commit to being there each time. It won't work to have helpers that just show when they want to. The job isn't that hard---just being a counselor and helping kids do their Friend or Companion requirements and assisting Director David Rowe with what else is needed. Finding some dedicated adults to help will insure that this program continues. If you or someone you know would like to help us in this awesome church ministry, please see Brenda Watson, Lisa Blackwelder, or David Rowe. Or contact brenda@wasatchhills.org |

Overcome the World
- Southern whites trouble by Romney's wealth, religion
- U.S ambassador to Libya killed in Benghazi attack
- Egyptians angry at film scale U.S. Embassy walls
- Obama denies snubbing Netanyahu amid chill
- Woman finds ex-boyfriend living in her attic
- Juror says he's too homophobic and racist to serve, now faces prosecution
- Magma pooling beneath infamous Greek Volcano
- Anti-Islam filmmaker in hiding after protests
- Chicago teacher strike poses test for unions
just a small sample of the headlines that were in the news one year ago. News becomes "old news"quickly. The news cycle is so fast these days, and there is so much of it, it can be overwhelming.
It is easy to see all thats happening in this world and be overcome by the world. Overcome by the sheer amount of evil that is in the world. Overcome by the effects of sin in this world and in our own lives. As I was spending time in my bible earlier this week I came across this verse:
John 16:33 "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Did you catch that? God is telling us not to be overcome by the world, because He has overcome the world! What an awesome God we serve. We can overcome, because He has overcome!
