GLOW TRACT DISTRIBUTION
AUG. 30 - Jordan Park Intn'l
Peace Gardens
2-4 p.m.
As Christians living in a world starving for answers about the 'big picture', how can we keep the knowledge, grace and security of our loving Savior all to ourselves?  GLOW tracts are a great way to introduce ideas and spark interest in what the Bible really says "to give us hope and a future."  Contact Evon Webb if you are willing to give an hour of your time on one or both of these Sabbath afternoons at 801-484-4331.

NEEDED:  PATHFINDER LEADERS
Looking for a few dedicated people:  Our Wasatch Pathfinder Club has really taken off in the last two years. We have a big group of young people enthusiastically participating. But some of our consistent, dedicated helpers have moved away. Our club is in desperate need of some more willing people to assist with our monthly meetings. The commitment isn't huge---just one Sabbath afternoon a month and maybe a weekend camping trip or hike once or twice a year. But in order for the program to work, we need some people that will actually commit to being there each time. It won't work to have helpers that just show when they want to. The job isn't that hard---just being a counselor and helping kids do their Friend or Companion requirements and assisting Director David Rowe with what else is needed. Finding some dedicated adults to help will insure that this program continues. If you or someone you know would like to help us in this awesome church ministry, please see Brenda Watson, Lisa Blackwelder, or David Rowe. Or contact brenda@wasatchhills.org

Cheerio

There he sits, drool running down his face; food all over his hands, arms, face, ears, and nose, not to mention the tray in front of him. Joshua is having a wonderful time. A large smile covers his face. Each hand is clenched in a tight fist which he periodically bangs on the tray of his high chair.
The life of an 8 month-old can be truly grand, especially with a Cheerio clenched in the palm of each sticky fist. Joshua loves Cheerios. (He takes after his parents in this respect.)
We set six or seven Cheerios on his tray and watch as his fingers fumble as he attempts to pick them up and get them into his mouth. Most of the time he will pick them up with his thumb and forefinger and then stick his other three fingers in his mouth. He just doesn't understand why that doesn't work. He has decided that he loves Cheerios and since he isn't able to get them into his mouth where he'd like them, he decides to keep them well protected in his fists.

As a loving parent, after smiling at my little one's predicament, I decide to lend a hand. So I reach out my hand to extract the Cheerio in order that I may put it in Joshua's hand, but he wouldn't have anything to do with that. It is as if he is saying, "Leave my Cheerio alone. It's mine, all mine. Never mind that I can't figure out how to eat it."

In many ways we grow up, but how many of us are still like Joshua, clutching the Cherrio but not actually eating it? God gives us a wonderful gift that we grab onto and won't let go, without waiting for God to tell us what we are to do with it or how we are to use it.

1 Corinthians 12:7 tells says, "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:" God has given you gifts; yes YOU. These gifts are for the special purpose of sharing the gospel with others. Are you clutching your gift in your stick fist or are you allowing God to show you how to use your gift.

Prayer Request from Kay Jorgensen

We met with the doctor yesterday (Aug. 18)  Because the D-PACE chemo. did not bring my cancer markers down, he now wants to do the transplant inpatient instead of outpatient. (bone-marrow transplant, scheduled for today, Aug. 20)
This will be much easier than my needing a care giver 24/7 who is available to take me to the hospital immediately, if I run a fever - which would have been the situation if I were doing it as an outpatient.
Thank-you for your prayers and concern.
Kay Jorgensen
