There is great need for PREVENTION, EDUCATION and AWARENESS to slow the progression of this disease. Because of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), the number of people on dialysis in the United States is rapidly increasing. 1 in 7 people in the United States have some form of CKD, a progressive condition that impairs kidney function, and it is the USA's ninth leading cause of death. Currently, in the United States there are more than 600,000 people living with ESRD and over 27,000 people are on dialysis in New York State. |
